Racing cars before they're all they can be and in doing so locking them forever rather then waiting until they're fully developed makes sense?
How about spending 600K to race a ghost race where this is the Current situation? "Japan’s ruling party official says Olympics must be cancelled ‘without hesitation’ if coronavirus situation is too severe." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2021/4/15/virus-could-force-olympics-cancellation-says-japanese-politician Learned a lot today in Sauber wind tunnel. More testing at Vallelunga. On to The Ring with 004C. Back to Sauber for final homolagation. 30 hour test. On to Portimo. |

I would argue you've actually seen the car testing and the team is communicating. That's a bit more than Ginetta was with their car.
But don't read the comments on Racer about the withdrawal, there are a lot of car builders on there apparently and all would have had the car done already if you believe them |

Yeah, I think I'm getting "this is such a tough ask for a company without the resources of a VAG or similar behind them" vibes - which is undeniable. I've no doubt all the folks at Glickenhaus would love it to be easier/quicker/cheaper but it is what it is. Rushing now won't really help overall. That doesn't feel like Ginetta - we've seen a working car, and heard from reputable drivers that it's pretty good. Let's give a bit of breathing room, it's fun to watch!

It's tough for privateers like this, we all know that yet people seem to stand around and scoff.
Of course this is a bit of a set back, but Jim's right, it's silly to lock the car down and spend $$$$$$ getting to races for the sake of competing. Get it how you like it and then proceed. Mind you, probably won't help too much with the sponsor hunt. |

We'll have a Customer 004S and Factory 007 at FOS. Very good pre homologation wind tunnel session at Sauber. We learned a lot. We're in very good shape. We'll make some very small tweaks and will then be ready for final homolagation in two weeks. This has nothing to do with resources. As always we do exactly what we want to do when we want to do it. Rushing to race a car before it''s all it can be doesn't interest us. Next week a customer Boot will race The NORRA 1000. This weekend I'll continue Boot road testing. Back to Vallelunga, on to The Ring for VLN 3 and 6HR Qualifying Race. 30 hour 007 Test at Aragon in May. Final 007 Homologation . Two 007's to Portimo. |

Busy schedule Jim!
Will you overlook it all in person yourself? |

It's 'interesting' to read the keyboard warriors on the internet. So many people have it in for Glickenhaus just because Jim speaks his mind. It's tempting to weigh in and criticise some of the dross that is being posted but in the end, I feel that it just isn't worth bothering. I'm right behind this effort and really want to see the team and cars do well. I'd rather wait until the cars are ready to compete properly than to compete too early and fail and give the doubters more ammunition to chuck at you....

The Race side yes.
My son Jesse is building the road cars, expanding our factory and overseeing our Zero Emission Hydrogen road and race Pickup Truck. That's an interesting one. Our goal is class 3 14000 GVWR with a 600 mile range and refueling available 24/7 world wide. (Think trucks supplying welding gas) |

We are very happy with our pre homogation aero test at Sauber. We'll test a few minor tweaks at Vallelunga on 4/27-28 and then enter the wind tunnel for the homologation later in the week. We'll also be testing the latest 2WD LMH tires from Michelin who are doing a great job. We no longer feel 2WD tire degradation will be an issue. Our 004C is ready for the Ring. We've very happy with it's development and look forward to NLS 3/6HR Quali/N24. Next week a customer is racing the NORRA 1000 in the Baja in his Boot. Our first 004S passed it's first two crash tests and has returned to our Danbury factory to be rebuild for more. We've started building 15 4DR road Boots. Our Evo'd Class 2 Boot is moving along and will be ready to race the Baja 1000 with 200 more HP, 400LBS less weight and a longer WB. Our first two 008 Buggy's are being build up and one will race the Baja 1000 with an all women drivers along side our Class 2 Race Boot. Our Glickenhaus Zero Emission Hydrogen Boot Pick Up is moving along and we plan to become the first Zero Emission Vehicle to successfully finish the Baja 1000 in 2022.

I'd really love to buy a t-shirt Jim, but a $28 t-shirt is going to cost me $37 in shipping to the UK and I just can't justify that.....

Yes due to UK customs clearance needed and UK VAT. Sadly we are moving away from UK suppliers as it's no longer duty free into the EU and due to double customs clearance things we used to get overnight now take 2 weeks.
We don't ship these. We use a fulfillment company. We make nothing on shipping. We're not allowed to sell directly or in the pits. The fulfillment companies for a small company like ours don't care about our business. Frankly we make almost nothing on our store. Last edited by Napolis; 23 Apr 2021 at 15:43. |

On the This Week in Sportscars podcast that came out today (april 23), Graham Goodwin comes out in pretty good defense of the decisions of the Glickenhaus LMH decisions regarding their scheduling this year. It does make sense, when you consider the homlogation rules. Nice explanation from Graham in that one.
And who knows if there will be Asia based "fly away" races anyway the way things are going. I wonder if those were replaced with European based tracks later in the year the team would at least consider (don't confuse it with confirm) running them. |
