No, mr. commentator, the SC is not there for safety reasons, it is only there to "enhance" the show.

Track limits being posted in race control at T3. But isn't that Raidillon? I thought there was no track limits there?

Official live timing is decent, but is there any third party link that goes full screen, like we had for LeMans/Nuburgring?

Massive off for a PAM Bimmer at Kemmel.
Both leading Mercs (#4, #999) pit. Smart work from the engineers. |

Brilliant call by Engle Mercedes to pit, because this will go SC very soon.
Race Control is weird. They hold off on going to FCY for a long time, to see if the incident will clear itself. That's nice because it avoids unnecessary breaks in the race. But then they ruin it by going to SC when it isn't required. Edit: maybe pitting before the SC is worse here because of the FCY. They lost more time under green than the next car will lose under FCY? Who knows. |

#999 takes its joker stop, #4 doesn't. When the stops shake out, Gotz should be in the virtual lead.

Estre pits to hand over to Christensen, who rejoins just ahead of Engel.

SC comes out in front of Estre, so it missed the leader (again). Luckily for it, Bamber will pit. |

Well, there's no way they're violating track limits on the right-hander at Eau Rouge. Maybe at the kerb on the bottom of the hill? If they count the kink in the downhill straight as a turn then that'd work. But I don't think they're counting track limits at the top of the hill.
It's nice to hear Bob Varsha actually commentating, rather than awkwardly sitting in the booth with sound bites like he does in Formula E. He's very good when he's commentating. |

After praising Varsha, I have to say, I don't agree with his assessment of that accident. I don't think a front wheel or tyre broke. Maybe the left rear, or maybe it was on the white line. But the front wheels looked fine.

The tyre marks make it look as if the left side wheels could have been on the kerb but tbh im not 100% sure. I agree with you though, it didnt really look as if anything broke with the suspension.

Anyone know what happened to the #26 Audi?
Seems that the confirmed retirements so far are #109 Bentley, #59 Aston Martin, #227 Ferrari, #762 Aston Martin, #37 BMW #80 Audi which crashed earlier at Raidillon has been repaired. Not sure whats happening with #50 Herbie, its been parked in the pits for a while. Anyone know what happened to the #26 Sainteloc Audi and the #36 Walkenhorst BMW? They both lose plenty of laps but are still running. |

They could have red flagged this, and just lined up the cars in the pits.
Basically, what they're doing now + the coming SC will achieve just the same. |
