It was "cold" for the natives.

It actually kinda sucked because of the rain, but the actual temps didn't really bother me.

And for tires, too.

Cold, wet and wind can be handled individually - mix any two and I don't like!

Sure, cause Continental knows how much money Michelin is pumping into the series...

It's just another business decision, I see nothing wrong with that. At least the blue & yellow/white stickers put on cars will look better than the pale orange ones.

No but Imsa knows what continental was paying, wanted to pay, and what Michelin will pay.

The decision was not based on money, because we would be reading different headlines if it was.

This is the most important aspect of the entire switch--I cannot believe it took this long to bring it up.

We need to petition the series to demand "Michelin Maidens" or something.

WolfsburgRS should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Something that was brought up on Motorsport.com was that Conti was pretty flexible with CSTCC teams selling off lightly used tires online. This was a great way to pick up cheap / decent track tires for HPDE events. It'll be bummer if this comes to an end.

MaskedRacer User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
I am worried about tire prices going up in 2019 for the race teams. I hope IMSA is aware of this.

You hope Imsa is aware of your concern?

Or you hope they have simply looked up what Europe teams are currently paying for tires? It's not exactly hard to determine...

Michelin has been working on/towards the 'deal' since the merger.

I wonder if Conti knew that Michelin had been planning this for 40 months!

And I love Marshall Pruett interviews. He asked if he could just wear a white T-shirt to audition for Bib. Lol.

S365 has a a very interesting interview with Scott Atherton on the decision to switch to Michelin in 2019.

Quote:
Atherton admitted its deal with Michelin doesn’t exclude IMSA from opening up other classes to tire competition in the future, although it’s not in the plan for the short-term.

“It’s not something we are prepared to embrace now,” he said. “But I would say the potential for it to evolve is there [in the current contract].

“There’s nothing that would prevent it but right now that’s not the vision.”

Should it happen, Atherton said he would see the Prototype class, which could see a convergence with new-generation ACO LMP1 regulations in 2020, being the most likely possibility.
The full story is available here.
