What makes a btcc race exciting?
What makes a btcc race exciting? I think it involves a lot of in-car cameras, with a lot of variety in them, lots of crashes, and constant passing. Any thoughts?

Sod the in-car shots - all that shows is how close they are. Mind you I like seeing how hard they touched.
What makes a good race - 2 or more commited to winning drivers, using their skill to try and get past each other with the occasional mistake to liven things up. A bit of fishtailing, a bit of tyre smoke and some dust. Now that even sounds good. |

Um............... at the moment, the only interesting thing in the BTCC has just quit (Luby). Get rid of these aweful cars and use the DTM rules. Now thats a touring cars series!!

Volvo, yuk!! Volvo are scum.
Nissan made the BTCC. Though the Donington Park races that I saw this morning were the best of the season. |

The badge on the front is not so important,we just need MORE cars to actually have a motor race!!

20-odd cars on the grid at least and lots of sideways action! BTW, did anyone see the 'tank-slapper' Slight had when he was in the lead? Could have done with a trackside view of it anyway. |

Kelvin is absolutely right! Looks at the BTC in the mid-90's Although there were always manufacturers who were at the front there were battles throughout the field.

Those are all totally resonable responses, but what about Mr. Soper?? Has anyone considered him?

One single driver wont make a BTCC race exciting, they may add to it!
Other factors include the circuit and vantage point to watch from. For example Silverstone can be pretty dull as a spectator if you pick a poor viewing spot, but on TV the potential is for that same race to be much more exciting! I assume Radisichrox that when you asked the question you meant that you would be watching from the comfort of your armchair? Kelvin. |

If you talking TV coverage then I would like to see a some cameras on Tom Boarmans car, and perhaps a few more of the 'P' cars. Why restrict all the camera to the Vauxhalls up front?!!

Unfortunetly, living in the u.s., I can't get any coverage of the btcc this year. However, I buy the reviews when they come out. To answer your question, they think that having the cameras on the vauxhalls they won't miss a part of the action when they cover the race. |

What makes for a good races is a grid of about 20 cars which are more evenly matched than this year. Plently of close action, overtaking and maybe a combination of fwd, rwd and 4wd cars. Also bring in some well known celebrity drivers. To make the whole weekend better increase the number of support races, bring back the Formula Ford, Fiesta's, Vectra's, Classic Touring cars and put the Elises in with the Powertour.

When you say "Classic Touring cars", what does that mean? What cars would this consist of?

An example of a grid for the Classis Touring Cars is like this one I've taken from the 1997 Silverstone BTCC weekend.
Class A 2*Ford Mustangs 5*Chevrolet Camaros Class B 1*Jaguar Mk1 2*Jaguars Mk2 Class C 1*BMW 1600 6*Ford Lotus Cortinas Mk1 Class D 1*Morris Mini Cooper S 2*Minis 1*Morris Mini Cooper 2*Austin Mini Coopers 3*Ford Anglias If you liked Mini's the race was heaven as there were that many of them. |
