Since Barry Green is selling out to Michael Andretti and Kim Green, remaining as a "consultant" with the new Team Andretti, could he be setting up to move to another series, not North American Open Wheeled?

I talked to Audi personnel in Elkhart Lake and it is likely that Audi will sell almost all R8 chassis and parts to private teams - I say almost because at least two units will be kept for the factory museum and for promotional uses.

Considering 2001 and 2002 specifications, I believe that there are between seven and ten (maybe eleven) R8 chassis that could be used for racing purposes. As it has been reported in this forum a several times, there is a number of team interested in acquiring these chassises.

For instance, Champion has been pounding on Audi's doors for months to get a second unit - a 2002-spec car, they hope -, and has announced its intention of running these two in the 2003 ALMS season.

Franz Konrad is also said to be looking for Audi cars.

Bernd Pischetsrieder, head of Volkswagen AG Group - that controls Audi - has also hinted (but not confirmed) that Audi will not build additional R8 cars.
