Positives from croft at the weekend

Now much has been written about what happend at croft on sat and sunday and i believe a lot of the discussion has been constructive whereby everyone has learnt something and hopefully everyone has helped eachother.

what i now want to point out is that on the whole croft has had some good publicity out of this, has just about everyone who has been to croft agrees (including myself) that at croft there is a fantastic dedicated bunch of marshals who always make you feel welcome and you can always have fun with so well done and thatnkyou to everyone at croft.

so all in all the other thread including my post was not just there to knock croft it was there to highlight some flaws in our marshalling system which just happened to come to an head at croft so to people like steve gibson who has worked tirelessly at croft for many years do not take the previous thread personnally and lets all take the positives out of it and take on board any constructive critism and lets all work together to keep the british marshals as the best in the world like they have been for so many years.

look forward to seeing everyone at croft shortly

regards

Mark Baines

Looking on the whole,
they didn`t do any thing wrong.
If the 2nd car didn`t come in there would be no issue and it would have been what we`ve been taught to do.
2 fire marshals
1 marshal for driver
and one spotter.

So what do we take from it....
the other thing that we are always taught..
Always expect the unexpected.
even tho incidents like this are few and far between, its just proof that it can happen...and at some point will happen.

its a hobby we choose to do,A "sometimes" dangerous hobby.
Be Safe & Be Happy

I concur with you Garyjoel, there seems to be nothing wrong to criticise here! happens, the important thing is how you deal with it. And from what I have heard, all was done as smoothly as possible.

Having watched the highlights programme, I thought the commentator was very dismissive of the injured marshal (they'll be OK after a cup of tea) but full marks to Matt Neal for showing concern that they were OK.

It certainly seemed like an "interesting" weekend, with lots of incident.

Well done to all who were there.

Welcome to the forum ....STU 1764 (marshal 1.....from other post)
This to will be my last post on this subject.....(hope my spellings up to standard.... )

Usually stu this is a very good forum to make new contacts, voluntereing for those events you didnt at the beginning of the year, and generally a very good bunch of people/marshals.
I think we all dont mind constuctive critsism, some people tend to be destructive, and like digging them selves a hole.........

There are a few pic,s around (northern echo, motorsport news ect...) showing that there were the minumum amount of people at the incident the rest were behind the cars, doing there duties in a safe place watching the traffic.....waiting for the call to move.....when required.......well done...good job (the only panic was to get the medic over)

However stu......you were seen to be eating a pie...20 mins before....DOH

Spoke to mike as well..he,s good.
I personaly cant wait to marshal with everyone again and at croft, lovely circuit..good poeple.....and very hardy spectators..

Hi all

The things that stick with me from my first visit to Croft,

1. the tea available to the marshals at sign on.

2. The friendliness of the marshals and circuit staff

3. I really enjoyed Post 4 and the people who were on that post really made the weekend for me

Finally my memory of the weekend is at the height of the downpour Sun Morning Steve in race control telling everyone to try and "stay as dry as possible"! Probably brought the biggest smile to my face the whole weekend, even on the way home my wife asked me what I was grinning at.

Nighthawk has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
On my first visit to Croft.

The friendliness of everyone on campsite and circuit staff.
Having a BBQ was a fantastic idea.
Tea at sign-on.
The fact that everyone called me by first name and actually remembered it.
On post the local marshals made us feel welcome.
all in all a very enjoyable weekend as someone else has said i would say the best i've had this year.
I will be back
And once again thankyou to all at Croft.

The outstanding moment for me was when one PC asked on the radio during the rain break if "at the request of the marshals the Porsche race could be cancelled!"

Regrettably it fell on deaf ears, funny though.

Rick,

Yes it was, becoming a bit of a habit now!

To be honest I never gave it a thought, the wife said he only hit our post to get his phone back!

I did mention to him and you can see him laughing about it on the TV coverage that he was the one driver to have driving tuition earlier in the week, a little ironic given his car was in bits.

A really nice guy, a bit shaken by the huge impact, but ok and willing to have a laugh about it.
