Any new zealand content is always good - circuit, road, rally. The recent NZ rally coverage has been good.

Give us more NZ muscle cars, GTRNZ, Open BMW even Honda Cup
Classes with interesting cars, not too slow and actually put on a show and race door-to-door. Don't wait for them to come to you

Hi Blizzard, I agree with your thoughts on Muscle Cars, GTRNZ and Beemers... you will be pleased to know CRC Motorsport will have Muscle Cars and Beemers that are part of the ST weekends on the Show later in the year...
Monster Trucks are nuts and we are playing 13 Shows over the next 3 Months in the lead up to the Live Event November 2nd.. Also just done the deal with Highlands to have the 101 Endurance Race November 23rd...

Cheers
Nigel.

Awesome news on the 101 Nigel, looking forward to that. Will it be full coverage, or highlights?

Agree with the above posters too, GTRNZ, Muscle Cars etc.

How many entries does the 101 have since the SIERDC series has heft that weekend off their endurance calendar? Thought everyone had to work together.

Unfortunately mr Quinn is running out of mates. He bullied the endurance guys last year to race in the 101 as his numbers of gt cars was low and v8st and TRS have said they won't be going back either.

Hi Nigel,

A bit off topic, but I was wondering how far back the TV3 archives go, and if it's possible for mortals such as ourselves to get copies of events from mid 80s - mid 90s? And does it work similar for your mates over at TVNZ?

I'd like to get hold of copies of the Wellington - Pukekohe races, and anything from the NZTCC from that era. Also, who remembers the Liquor King 500 at Pukekohe? From memory it was a bit of an all comers type race, but it was televised, so that would be cool to get hold of also.

Thanks in advance.

Sam

rather surprised to hear the V8SC ratings have dropped. .. considering a majority of their races were shown around midnight. .. when the coverage was on free to air tv

Promax, the last two Rounds of Supercars have delivered great ratings because the Kiwi Drivers are doing so well... and long may it continue.. you mentioned in your Post that the majority of the Races were at midnight when it was on Free to Air... can Ī suggest you get your facts correct... the majority of Races were on Sunday afternoon..

Hey Nigel,

Was it just me or were some of the cameras in different locations?
If so, nice improvement.
If not, ignore me obviously too many beersies.

I quite liked the drone shots they where getting. But given our govts recent decision to become American, I fear the drone cam may be deployed elsewhere as the actual RNZAF...

You should be able to get around it with a bit of a discussion with the CAA and possibly an advert in the paper.

The shots I saw of the drone were at the sweeper, which may have been an issue due to close proximity to the highway? It might be viable to use the drone at other corners of the circuit that are likely to be 500m+ away from the motorway and less likely to cause a distraction or incident if control is lost.

Big fields of cars, quality iconic cars, and heaps of spectators. Mr Quinn must be doing something right that we can all learn from.

i think there is only a handful of people that "don't get it" the paying public won't hand over their money to watch an empty track

Does anyone know spectator numbers for this years 101?
Tv3 did a story on it but you couldn't see much of the crowds.

I don't know a number, but the crowd was pretty healthy yesterday (easily healthier than any ST/NZV8 crowd this year). But obviously nowhere near a Supercar meeting.

Last year's crowd numbers were declared to be around 10,000 if I recall correctly. But some have been skeptical about the numbers generated by Highlands.

TV3 Today - was it 8 or 9 Utes?

Last week, 12 ST?

Track limit, over 40 cars...

I'll look forward to the broadcast from Highland Park.

Unfortunately (as you probably well know) the classes with big fields don't seem to have the money to fund TV coverage so are rarely seen on the box.

Even the fields at Highlands 101 were down a lot from what was there last year

I think it was 11 utes socram. Still, a dissapointing turnout by the utes, ST's and NZV8TC.
The bad news seems to be continuing as we see the decay of top level v8 racing in nz, irrespective of which 'camp' you are in.
Hopefully Puke turns out to be a goodie but i am not holding my breath.

I think you'll find that was because they had the South Island Endurance Series there. Several competitors from the SIES entered in the 101, with that not there this year you're seeing fewer entries but still a few making the effort.

Just a reminder the 101 airs on CRC Motorsport Sunday 23rd Nov 2pm.

Cheers
