I like that Micro chapparal. Very tasty.
I shall have to raid the Nippers LEGO box(es), see what I can come up with. The was one guy on Flickr I found that built LMP1s in Micro scale, using a grinder, and glue, to make up fabulous models... |

Can't find them now. They were absolutely gorgeous. But no, not LEGO.
However, this guy's stuff is... http://www.flickr.com/photos/malte-dorowski/sets/ |

That Flying Lizard Porsche is pretty cool. Funny how grown men have a soft spot for all things Lego. I bought a Renault R30 F1 car kit a few years ago made by one of the knock off Lego brands. They had a McLaren as well. Highcroft was sponsored by a company that made a model of their car out of wooden block a couple of years ago. Automoblox I think it was. Not quite the same but still a child's toy.
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....railer-set.jpg Funny how it looks like a DP. Kind of prophetic. |

Maybe this nice documentary... blocumentary about "AFOL" (=Adult Fan of Legos) interests some here:
The car dude I linked here is in it. Otherwise nothing to do with lego cars specifically. I'm not "AFOL" like in that document, but lets say whenever I have digged up Legos for sisters' kids etc. it has been a good excuse... |

Timely bump for this thread, seeing as one of the larger Lego Technic sets for 2015 is basically an R18 with a green/grey (nose)/black/white livery. Big Honking Fin included, but the new part for the fenders don't have holes in it.
I'll post a picture when one is released that doesn't have a massive copyright stamp on it... |

Kind of awesome that the general LMP shape is becoming this recognizable... also sad that it is with the fin, but maybe you can build it without it

I like the look of that, will have to look at getting my hands on that when it's released. Should be fun to build

Now come on LEGO, where's that Audi license when you need it...
Apart from the gray front nose, I'm liking the look of it. Some of those stickers are rips from previous sets, so I expect to see changes to those as well as to the colour of some body parts. Interesting to see what look like Shell stickers though. Hopefully it will have an actual gearbox instead of a distribution box. |

LEGO Sportscars
New Lego car kits uncovered. There's the P1, LaFerrari and 918 amongst others but the real interest is the AF Corse 458 and the 911 GT racers.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/car-c...=1459_94170140 The main mistake I've seen is with the AF Corse car, the kit has a silver cup included-shouldn't that be gold? |

There's been no official confirmation from Lego, but the general assumption is that the design was changed because the preliminary model was too similar to an Audi R18 to get away with not having a licence - this would also explain the lack of BHF. Another reason could be that it was too expensive to re-introduce the curved slopes (headlights) that haven't been used in a set for a few years.
Interestingly, most AFOLs unanimously preferred the original design... |
