World championships win over national or continental championships. Therefore, the three best motorsport drivers of the decade were Schumacher, Loeb and Rossi. I consider endurance racing more like a team sport, and without a unified world sports car championship, it's hard for me to pick the best sports car driver of the decade.

If I'm not mistaken, the F1 did race at Indianapolis under the rain. Of course, the entering speed at oval turn 1 was lower than those of IndyCar and Nascar Cup. I guess that Nationwide or Indy Lights cars could run on wet Milwaukee, New Hampshire and Martinsville without too much trouble.

That's true, but oval racing isn't a worldwide sport as formula racing or motorcycle road racing. And you can't compare the difference between Bristol and Indianapolis with the difference between Finnish gravel-surfaced mid-turn jumps and French Alps icey downhill hairpins.

good point....hence your comment earlier about "national" champs shouldn't make the cut.

no...you can't compare apples to oranges, but that is what this "contest" is about.

I would personally switch Rossi with Loeb but overall, those results can be agreed to.

i'd say at least switch JJ and Loeb, but i didn't vote .
Rossi & Loeb were equally dominate in their respective series so they could go either way.
