could this be the electrical problem causing your missfire problems as clive has mentioned every avenue needs checking with pesky electrics.
The mazuin is starting to take shape and some photos will be arriving on my thread soon. i will soon have my next electrical nightmare to contend with.

My learned frind on the Porsche site DDK have explained it is a freak high volt spark hitting the resistor that is potted between the post grahite connection of the dist cap and the brass terminal that touches the cap of the rotor arm.
The resistor is there is stop radio interference.

Trick is to dremmel-out the potting, remove the resistor and solder in a 10 SWG piece of copper in place.

It is not that common, but certainly not unheard of in Porsche/VW circles.

This cannot of helped the running of the car. No idea when it happened as the rotor arm was new about 30 hillclimbs ago, ie about 3 hours of running.
Have a nice new one as the spare in the car.

The Aldon automotive system is all matched with the correct Aldon Coil etc, so i had best do the mod.

You do learn something every day, and this Lola thing is sure teaching me stuff!

After a few distractions work has progressed on the Lola.

Engine is now all timed-up by Bob Watson Engineering, the gearbox all rebuilt with a fresh 2nd speed dog synchro by Mike Bainbridge Eng and the installation by Team 911!
It all dropped back in almost boringly, only a few fights with thisnthat and a tidy up along the way.

The new rotor arm should clean the ignition up after the hole was found, just need the oil for the engine to arrive and it can be run.

Not sure if i have the time to get it to the rollers now before Xmas, and with 4 months until the first hillclinb, not exactly a rush to do it.

Just getting my head around to pulling the gearbox out of the 911 for a 2nd speed re-build....throughout my car-life things all seem to happen together, lots of gearbox issues, or exhaust etc, spooky.

I should now have sparks, fuel, compression and lift off.

I would advise that you try to get the car on the rollers before Christmas if at all possible. Reasoning is that if it goes really well, then it will give you a great fillip over the festive season. Conversely, if it doesn't go well, you have the Christmas/New Year holiday period to plan your course of action, and plenty of time in the New Year before the start of the hill climb season to execute your plan!

Yes, i'm hoping they will now be effective with the engine as good as when used in the Nomad sports racer.

If I remember correctly the silencers were Techcraft, I'd be interested to know the dimensions and if they are still available as I have the rest of that system now ready to go on to the Nike.

Baffling

Could you not use a 40ft lorry tarp. set it on the trailer and drive the car on to it. Then pull the rest back over the car to form like an envelope with the car inside. It would protect it on the drive to the rollers. I know I put a floor on my FF trailer for that very reason. Not much fun explaining to the Scruts 'well actually the car was mint when it was in my garage' And not much fun for the scrutes either.

Did you buy the headers i had off David PPP ?
The techcraft silencers on the car above were the silencers off that system but now modified for a slammer primary tube diameter.

Terry's headers were very large dia tube but very nicely made.

Yes, i had thought of using a similar 'sleeping bag' affair as you describe, but I'm out of time now. Xmas things and a full time job have soaked up the time left.

Yes, I now have the full system as run on the Nomad with the open pipes. I will need to get some 20 inch repackable silencers like yours to keep it legal, but can't wait to hear it anyway, its a beautifull piece of stainless steel artwork.

While the family wake=up for Xmas day, I thought I would pose a question to you all:

Does anyone know an F1 Race engineer from the 80's called John Sabour.
It has been suggested that he might have been involved in the swopping of the crashed HU6 car's parts to the Dennis Humphries tub before Tony and John Sch were to do the Ghia body conversion.

The engine has full oil pressure so with a little fuel will be started and the rings broken in before going to the rollers in Jan.

I will also re-fit the front Lola bodywork to allow pivoting forward for scrutineering etc and when doe we are ready for the season.
First practice weekend is at Loton in late March.

My class (Sports Libre over 2000 cc) will be a big class in 2012:

Lola T 492 3.2 litre Porsche
Pilbeam MP 43 2 litre Hart
Audi quattro short wheel base 800 bhp....'Pikes Peak replica'
Mini with Mitsubishi EVO 1 drive train, 300 bhp and 300 Kg
