If there's much that needs to be replaced it could end up in starting from the pits for Leclerc

Unfortunate situation for Leclerc if he has to lose pole due a penalty but nice to see the pace in the car. And, this is a chance for Verstappen to make a big impact on his championship campaign so I expect him to be quite unbeatable if he starts P1 tomorrow. We'll see.

Leclerc shows Schumacher, Michael that is, how it should be done! Just kidding, but what a session that was. Well done Leclerc and Ferrari, let’s see if the car can be repaired without needing to take a penalty. Hamilton only 7th, now that is really going to make for an interesting race tomorrow

The top 10 places for tomorrow's grid has a quite a different complexion.
1. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) 2. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) 3. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) 4. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) 5. Lando Norris (McLaren) 6. Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) 7. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) 8. Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) 9. Sergio Perez (Red Bull) 10. Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) |

Fingers crossed LeClerc keeps his pole or max could be off into the distance tomorrow.
Credit where it’s due, Bottas has soundly beaten Hamilton all weekend, poor from Lewis. I suspect that 15 point cushion will disappear after tomorrow |

It was interesting watching the side by side synced video with Karun with Max and Lewis looked like the Mercedes couldn't quite rotate and get on the power from the Nouvelle chicane through Swimming pool. Lewis was ahead at the left wall from the tunnel and WELL back by the left wall at swimming pool.

The other Mercedes must be shorter then....
...has to be something in the setup, Bottas was right with the red bull so either Hamilton had an utter mare or there’s a big difference in the way they are setting up the cars which is hurting Hamilton here. It’s very strange...can’t remember the last time Lewis was half a second off any of his teammates |

Is Kravitz trying to crate drama and controversy by suggesting to Toto that Leclerc crashed the car on purpose to keep pole?
I think it's time he had a long holiday from F1. |

Im lazy so could anyone tell me the last time Hamilton started 7th or lower? Have to say though, im not massively surprised. They always seem to struggle with lower track temps compared to the others. Really surprised by Ferrari although should we be surprised? In the previous GPs this season they've kinda had flashes throughout the weekends of having a decent enough car.
Expected Verstappen to get pole & win this race. Red Bull not as fast as id have expected. However P2 & could still win so its not all that bad. |

2020 Turkey, Hamilton won from 6th on the grid.
Prior to that - 2018 German GP, qualified 14th and won. There was also the 2016 European GP (Baku), qualified 10th and finished 5th. |

Given he clipped the inside corner and snapped the suspension it's not even clueless to suggest he did on purpose. Maybe wide and clip the wall but slam the corner and break the suspension like he did? No chance
Sorry, to clarify not directed at you but the media guys wanting a controversy to report on. Last edited by broadrun96; 22 May 2021 at 19:11. |

Given the potential damage that it could cause to the car and subsequent penalties/rebuild (not to mention conspiracy theories, controversy and safety concerns), I find it very hard to believe there was any intention to crash the car. I know we've seen it on occasion over the years but in the context of this particular event, I'm gonna assume Ted is pumping the flame for the sake of stirring the brown stuff.

I would say overall he's turning better than they did but they had moments of speed that were ahead of his. But more importantly he keeps the car together and gets the points he can. I think the car isn't exactly what he would like, think his driving style and Max's aren't the same so he's getting used to it, hopefully he's moving forward in the field.

I can't recall the exact number but it took something like up until the last race (maybe race before) where DanRic had accumulated the same amount of distance with his new team as he had done during his first winter testing program with Renault. I suspect Perez is in a similar boat. The nature of this season is naturally leading to a longer adjustment period for the incomming drivers. Probably should give a little more leeway for Tsunoda and the Haas drivers as well. |

Seems Leclerc's gearbox is fine, so he won't need to take a penalty. Now let's see what he can do from pole
