Competition Questions

Increasingly over the last few weeks our forum has been used as a place for help in solving puzzles set by a magazine.

I have several serious problems with this. First of all, these quizzes are, I am told, set with a prize in mind. While anyone could read any answers posted on the forum, I still think it confers an unfair advantage on the individual who gets other people to do his research for him.

The questions are usually points of identification from very recent periods of history. To be honest, these will be of limited interest to the majority of our readers in the Historic Racing forum. Whilst technically history starts with what happened a moment ago, the heart of the forum is really based in events 15 or more years ago.

There has been for many months a topic at the top of this forum requesting people to limit their picture posting to images to which they own the copyright. We are fairly broad-minded about this, but if you're posting a picture you can't identify from an identity competition in a magazine, it is a fair bet that you don't own the copyright to it. We don't want to be sued, so please don't do it.

In short, the competition questions have to stop and I am afraid that any further threads which bear the telltale signs of being a request for quiz answers will be closed.

Dracula should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just for note: at TNF one of unfair players with nickname samuelson was sent out some days ago. Maybe try to do it here with poorboy, Kimi-Mika and Go_Finland - persons (or one person with different nicknames) who continue ask quiz questions to experts of this forum?

Rest assured any new questions will be pulled from the forum from now on.

So can we lose this one please Paul?

I have no intention of reiterating my stance on these question threads - I've made my views perfectly clear in the past - but I'd like to wish Dracula good fortune in these Russian quizzes: to my knowledge he always plays fair and contributes info where he can!

For reference, here's a link to the questions just finished and the next set of pictures.

I hope Kvadrat will be able to keep this up to date, so that we will be able to eliminate these threads entirely.

How does this quiz work? Do they set one set of questions per month?

Here we go again ....

Two pictures have been posted on another forum. One shows a blue car, the other a blond man. You have been warned

Yep - saw that. And the link to the blue car took nearly two minutes to download on a Broadband connection.

Ho hum!

Knowing those Russian sites, Tim, that's probably because your firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware and pop-up killers were working overtime at the same time ....

I wonder.

Would it be possible to post on the main Russian sites giving links to the answers? This would negate anybody's unfair advantage and hopefully stop the abuse of the historical forums.
