Ferrari recreations and replicas

Can anyone here confirm the history of the ex-Corrado Cupellini Ferrari Dino 246/60 Grand Prix car sold at the Bonhams sale at this year's Festival of Speed? The spiel claims that the car was put together in 1978 from a genuine F2 chassis and a genuine F1 engine. I can't recall any Ferrari Dino's being in circulation before Anthony Bamford exported the New York show car to the UK and started racing it in 1980 with Willie Green driving. That car I thought was then used to make two replicas, one of which might well be the Cuppellini car. It sounds as though a slightly alternative history has been invented though I might also be wrong on the numbers of real and replica cars.
