Where's Johnny?

I didn't see Johnny Walker logo on the McLaren cars this weekend. Wasn't this sponsorship deal supposed to start in Turkey? Anyone know the scoop??

It started in Hungary and was on the car there.

It was not on the car in Turkey as it's a Muslim country.

Surprised they sprayed the champagne in a Muslim country, or was it non-alcoholic ?

Turkey sells alcohol in it's shops and bars so i don't see this as a problem.

As far as I recall reading, it was a company decision by Diageo, out of respect for the country.

You can sell booze in France, but it won't be on the car there either

They were selling Fosters so, therefore it was an alcohol free meeting.

There was a big Mumm Champaign sign under the start gantry and yes, they sprayed champaign.

It was a corporate decision not to show sponsorship. Not the fact that alcohol sponsorship isn't allowed. There were fosters signs on the track around turn 4-5 i think anyway !!

Maybe they realised that people in Turkey can't really afford to purchase a bottle of Johnny Walker, so it was a waste of Marketing.

Hmm,

Bit of stereotyping there.

So what was all this about Johnny Walker being a title sponsor replacement for West?

McLaren still seem to have the West non-tobacco brandings on the sly, and the JW logos are pretty widdly. What's up there?

McLaren never said Johnnie Walker was the new title sponsor.

They're talking to several companies, believed to include BT and Intel about that.

The reason JW wasn't on the car before Hungary was because Diageo didn't want to be on a car with a cigarette brand on it.

Based on this pic , Budweiser was missing from the Williams, replaced by SeaWorld.
