Great pic..... if only I knew the names that go with the faces, although I probably know you all 'virtually'!

This picture could figure a new TV series. The Retro Experts! Forget about Car SOS and other WD, follow the Retro Experts in the first episode. The mission is to find impossible to source parts for a Capri Mk2, in good nick and at a very fair price. They will be sent to a nice unknown located overseas…

It looks cold! We've been on track all day, currently in the Travelodge "Towcester Silverstone". Nice meal in the centre of Towcester. Let's see what the weekend brings
Hope you all have a good one. M #keepfightingmike Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

Iain, what kind of Escort wheels do you have for sale? RS type, four spoke, very light and forged?

Got to say had a really enjoyable day despite the weather being a bit horrible at times. The improvements made to the viewing seamed to work very well, not sure how it could be expanded for next year. As always there were a few mechanical issues that kept sum cars from the stage but that just one of those things. Great to see the majority of the cars being used fairly hard, especially the TEGsport built Skodaru, those are just weapons.
Anyways here's my vid from stage side if anyone interested: https://youtu.be/qP0KtKmerec |

I enjoyed the day yesterday but got my timings wrong for the rally stage and didn’t get to see the Group B and historic cars run! £23 (advance price) and no parking fee make it good value compared to Autosport, particularly as the content and rally stage make it far more interesting.
I hope the chap that needed the air ambulance is ok, I have not seen any info but as I was walking to the rally stage he was having CPR from members of the public. Must have only just happened. Still, if there is going to be a medical emergency you are probably best off having it at a motorsport event with first aiders, paramedics and Doctors very near by. Hoping for the best. |

Particularly liked seeing the XJ13 pic. Is that the original or one of the replicas? Remember seeing it demoed at a Silverstone British GP in the early 1970s. |

I don't know but I thought the original had been destroyed at MIRA.

It was I understand restored / rebuilt with the original mechanicals and using the original jigs. Here is a video in which Dewis recounts the accident, and drives / talks about the rebuilt car. Probably technically a replica but as near to the real thing as possible I guess. Moreso than the few other replicas that have been made by outsiders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFyEPdUifgY |

Reasonable day, show will never recapture its old brilliance, but that is the same as NEC which I have not attended now for many years.
Very over priced if you attended on the day, but I got in cheap with a code!! Far too much new stuff on retro rally stage, but I guess they are hampered with most old stuff not wanting to be used, the days of Mouton in a Quattro are long gone, hardly any GpB stuff there that was even faintly original. Most of it hack replicas. One of those shows to do once in a blue moon really, unless you have something to buy or sell, endless trailers etc, shows the target audience. High points, food very well priced, venue is always pleasant and people always friendly, and some nice people to natter to. Jumble was better than before, so new folks have made an effort. Jensen guys were brill, and some interesting chats with people on stands, but other than that, much of the same. |
