It seems only a few years ago that nobody wanted to marshal BARC meetings because they were 'badly organised & ran late', BRSCC was in the ascendency and ran many of the BTCC meetings. Then their bubble burst [I think their relationship with BHL went a bit flat], now BARC is seen as the guiding light amongst the clubs. How long before they take a turn for the worse. Remember The BRDC marshals club and the £5.00 per day? Octagon took over Silverstone and bang went the £5.00. Jim W has the right of it. Be very selective and do only those meetings that positively appeal to you. Stuff club loyalty, it never paid your fuel or buttie bill.

Could we not setup a league of shame, what are the worst supported championships in terms of numbers. On a more possitive not we could also setup a tope ten of the best?

Oulton - BRSCC - Saturday - Focus Cup....three cars entered....one extra turned up!
30 minute race with four cars, that was reduced to 2 cars for around half of that time! PANTS! |

Re the Farce-us Cup - its not often that you can get half the grid in the same gravel trap during qualifying

Stephen, we are itching to know-maybe just a little taster? Rod and myself would love to know at least!...strange, but about 90% of the grids at Brands over the weekend were full...ahh, I know why...it was BARC!

Barry, it would be unfair to say anything about Grant's e-mail as it was sent in confidence. As I said, it looks like there are changes afoot. The sooner the better in my opinion.

Remember the three car F.3000 race at Brands...that lasted for nearly an hour, with a "safety" car intervention!!!! Guess which club was involved.

BARC sowed at the weekend how to run and fill a meeting. The weather is something they still have to learn to sort out!. The grids were excellent with quality racing on every race. The crowds were of a good number and the meeting was run well.
Well done agian BARC, Rich S |

Yes Rod, Martin Pernell (marshal) was seen to run onto the track at Druids and pick an earwig up off the circuit-well nobody else could see what it was!

Big grids or amalgamate. especially at a big venue like brands - I think the difference between a SEMSEC Lydden and anyone elses shows massivley - SEMSEC for me - when I finally sort out my car!

Just what ingrediant is it that causes an organizing club to improve or deteriorate ?? Is there one secret or is it a question of getting the right person in the right place??
Mind you, 750MC always seem to have this 'in spades' and everyone feels better having worked with them, no matter which circuit. A large part of the 'feel good' factor at BARC is the tireless work of Trevor Jackson ...now there's the right chap in the right place!! |

A club that listens to drivers and marshals, also answers questions, deserves to succede. A club that ignores the above and charges more for entries/membership/registration has a problem!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking of small grids, what about the british GT championship with smaller grids and longer races. I just done a 3 hour race at silverstone and nearly fell asleep. I wont be doing another one of the 3 hour races with them again. Bring back the lister and tvr speed12 and all the other ones that had to be dropped because of the regulations and make it a better race.
