Great to see you all yesterday after the looong winter hibernation, good to see Gord and Whizzo misbehaving (well slightly), the hgtcc was well supported which is great to see, I cannot wait to see the "shelby superperformance" at the next heritage race.
A big thanks to Ross for allowing Lauren to be taken around the circuit in the Bullit and to Whizzo for taking her out in the car, she did not know you could go around brands that fast and in the wet, trouble is now she wants our Elite to do the same. |

Dank, wet, miserable weather .......
Great day. Special thanks to Rikki, Terry (Pantera) and John Wilson for good conversation and interest, Heritage and Kim and that hot water urn! To finish day off well, finally got back to Suffolk despite M25 parking lot, to the FORC monthly event, to be thoroughly entertained by Paddy Hopkirk. GT. |

James Whelan here (Shelby/Superformance Coupe) - It was good to meet some new friendly faces yesterday, and no doubt I'll actually remember some names over the coming months. I'm looking forward to some fun events with all you oldies.
Thanks Rikki for the very enjoyable slippery session in the Elite. Afterwards I was down near Gatwick where a friend has (among other cars) a few Elites in the workshop, one of which was a brand new completely bare Elite shell, great stuff. My distributor still hasn't arrived from the US, so I'm sitting here making pretend brrrm brrrm noises. |

Great day and surprised so many people made the trip despite the weather! I think we won the award for best supported series.
I enjoyed my trip in the Bullet and the encouragement Joss and his team gave me as I took out the Esprit for the first time.....on dry tyres! Still not sure why they cheered evreytime I completed a lap. |

I certainly won't make Silverstone; whilst the car cames with a massive rear 6pt cage/hoop, there is no room to fit a front cage, so working on a solution will take too long. Hopefully we'll be OK for Snet.
It's also eaten 2 starter motors, which is rather inconvenient. |

Our diff should be finished today, engine finished this Saturday then it will be plenty of late nights finishing off the Aston ready for testing, its funny but we started (like most I guess) last November to strip the car down, inspect it then start improving and generally service it and here we are a couple of weeks before its first test with a car in a million bits.
Racing, dont you just love it ? |

Mad , expensive rush to get both of mine ready.
40 is all complete and just needs suspension readjusting. Oh, and the engine to drop back in !!!! Brian Randall said it would be going on the dyno yesterday but i think there is more chance of being struck by lightning twice in one day !! 917 is all intact but i,ve taken it over to Nick Parravani to have a new and hopefully (sad really, as i had got away with it for so many years) quieter silencing system made up. That will add a few kgs and mess up the look of the rear end !! Certainly won,t help its handling with that extra weight up its rear!! New set of CR82s next week, extinguisher refill and we are ready to go, exept i doubt i,ll race at Silverstone as i have a Gulf Oil Garage promotion in Devon to carry out with it just a few days before. We will definitely come along though to support and cheer you all along. I am booked for Snetterton and onwards though. GT. |

John, are you down to race this Sunday? I need to ask a few cobra-related things, so it would be convenient (I promise not to let your tyres down in the collecting area).
I won't be racing, but will be bring the Daytona up to meet some new folk and watch the action. Everything should be ready for Snet. |

I've just spent the weekend marshalling at Becketts Centre and was thoroughly entertained by you folks in both qualifying and the race. Lovely cars and proper but fair racing. Thank you all.

Thankyou for bringing my car back....and Tiff.
Great start to the season Tiff managed an impressive Pole despite never having driven either the car or the arena circuit before in just three laps. 10 minutes earlier he was looking at the circuit plan! Unfortunately his race was cut short when he lost a wheel. This handed the lead to a smoking John Wilson who lost out to a hard charging Oli Bryant on the final lap. Personally I enjoyed watching the two BDG Mk1 Escorts battling the whole race. Wicked! Next race Snetterton 300 on the 28th May , two 40 minute races in one day! |

While I "swan about" in Spain, spare a thought for Norman Ricketts who used to race in the Heritage series.
He has been in Stoke Mandeville hospital for some time on life support with an unknown infection. I get an update most days from Anne and it looks like a "long haul" before he's better ! |

A few images from qualifying and the race. If there is smoke in the picture it means the MG is close by.

Sadly looks like i,m not going to be out for Snetterton Heritage races as Porsche engine now out and having to undergo complete strip and rebuild.
Number five bank completely destroyed last Saturday at Snett. Anyone have a wrecked 3.6 964 Porsche laying around ?? |
