Have always made a point of going here since i first visited during le mans in the early nighties, a real mecca for le mans fans since the early jaguar years and his love of the race was reflected in his hotel

I'd never met him in person, but his legend goes far and wide. Such a fantastic legacy that's been created at that hotel and a fantastic visit each year.

For years everytime we went he was always either serving behind the bar or talking to customers/looking at the cars in the square

Very nice tribute to M Pasteau by Derek Bell on Facebook, making the valid point that it's nice that the hotel is still now owned by someone who values its heritage so much.

I think I've seen him about there, just not made his acquaintance. Such a lovely place to go; the wife has suggested I try and book a room or two for race weekend for my fortieth (which is normally a week or so before the race) in 2020, but I fear I will have no joy even now! Will ask this year though.
