CSCC SNETTERTON 300 - 15/16 August

Not wishing to attempt to fill Mike's shoes as the publisher of event details, but thought I might start a thread for this (if a mod wishes to adopt it please do so)

The Silverstone date (22/23 August) which was lost to the putative rearranged WEC event has been replaced by an event at Snetterton 300 on the weekend of 15/16 August for all CSCC series plus the Jaguar Saloon and GT Championship. It has not yet been determined which series will run on which day.

One of the reasons for choosing Snetterton was the 45 car grid capacity, plus the fact that there is sufficient space for the recommended Social distancing, as it is felt that there could be considerable demand.

I would've thought Snetterton would be quite cramped for the large number of competitors that my go to this and I assume spectators will still be banned by then

I expect spectators still to be banned, but who knows, and of course the pressure to reduce the social distancing limit to the continental 1 metre is growing.....

For the first (Thruxton) meet only two tickets per car are allowed, with one extra if its a two-driver entry.

For the likes of myself (Timmy no mates) that wouldn't be a problem but I can't help thinking it won't appeal to a lot of people who like the atmosphere of spectators or an entourage around them.
I'm not sorry to be out of it now but I do hope you all enjoy what's left of the season and can make the most of a truly horrendous year

Snetterton regularly sees very large grids for CSCC races over two days and with the limit in numbers of “hangers on” allowed, then It should be ok, I think.

I certainly think that it will put off a number of people who come along with families, and some that come along with a mate to do some spannering as well.

There has been an increase in the numbers of “teams” that are running cars, too. Artics and awnings etc, and sleeping in the trailer accom, especially in the Magnificent 7s and some of the slightly more modern series. I do wonder how they will get on?

Maybe something good could come from all this, and the 'new normal' may prompt a re-boot of club motorsport and a return to the days of proper 'club racers' who don't turn up in a 40 foot artic with half a dozen guys assisting and a £100K Winniebago in close pursuit of said artic, all to go home with a pot for third in class!

Nah... not gonna happen is it...?

Now Paul, just think how much satisfaction you get out of beating those guys whilst having enjoyed camping out in the back of the van you towed your trailer with

Erm... yes, to the first bit, but the jury's still out on the 'enjoyment' to be had from kipping in the van!
