British Gp - Marshalling selection update

The selection meeting was held this morning ( 16th March) to discuss the volunteer officials for the GP.

All those who volunteered and whose forms have reached the MSA (including quite a few late submissions) have been accepted for this years GP. Official invitations should be sent out by the MSA within the next 7 to 10 days - so watch for the post! One or two people may be asked to do a duty that is different to the one for which they volunteered, but these changes are very few.

If you do not hear anything, if you suspect your application might have been lost, or if you missed the deadline and haven't yet volunteered, then there is a possibility we can find some extra slots in most disciplines.

If you think the above applies to you, please sent me an e-mail at hobson.c@btinternet.com with your details. Remember you must volunteer for a job in which you already hold an MSA grade (sorry - no novices) and should have done a minimum of 10 to 12 days marshalling in that role last year - if you haven't then please e-mail me and I will see what can be done - but no promises.

As always, if you have any comments or questions please let me know.

I hope this helps. Remember this is an unofficial note, but the MSA knows I am sending it out to you.

regards

Chris Hobson
National Chairman BMMC

Chris, even as a reader/marshal who has not volunteered, many thanks for taking the time to post this info.
The fact that you are even able to mention the MSA (even unofficially) means that this forum is read and even (in some cases) taken seriously.

Keep up the good work and here's to the next time we meet.

.....it's just a suggestion!

Suggestion to the BMMC Hierarchy - although a bit

Why don't the BMMC form a partnership with Ten-tenths as an avenue for communication to it's membership.

A link from the BMMC website perhaps.
I think it's very useful to have Club "News" in this way, as by the time we get newsletters, it's often "Out Of Date" news.

I also think it's fantastic that the BMMC National Chairman and Treasurer contribute to this Forum and do not see it as "Evil"

Not wanting to send this thread down the wrong path, but........

BMMC welcomes the discussions here on ten tenths, where ALL marshals, not just our members, can contribute.

We are looking at updating our web pages and I welcome any suggestions (direct e-mail, or separate thread please - not this one). One of the ideas is to have all members e-mail addresses on file so we can quickly e-mail out newsflashes, monthly updates etc., also we will have a regalia page shortly)

Anyway, back to the British GP .................................. let the discussion continue

Is there any chance of getting a list of the received and successful applications put up on here?

My form went to the MSA through a third-party (BRDC), as I expect many others did, so I can't easily confirm if the form was sent to the MSA successfully.

Cheers

Phill

Phill,

Sorry - "NO" is the answer. I have the full list, but cannot publish it, for obvious reasons. I am sure the BRDC sent your form on to the MSA, but drop me an e-mail with your full name and address and I will confirm your status.

Hi Stephen, I Started Marshaling at Combe a year ago and did 12 Racedays there, only got 8 sigs as 2 days were not MSA organised (the superbike grand national) and didn't realsie I could get sigs for 2 of the other days, Plus I did every track day, about 10 in total, but thats a differnent kind of driving altogether (Thats a differnent kind of driving (in the style of airplane/police squad!!)!! and I've signed up for all events at Combe this year plus I'll be doing the 24hour event at Silverstone if I can juggle work about.
What I'm trying to say is, can I do the British GP!!??
I can bribe, no ask Adrian Fawdington (CC's cheif Marshal) to write me a nice letter If you want!
Cheers, Lee
If you acept back handers I do paypal!!!!!!!!!

Lee,
Don't forget you need at least "Course" grade, and only MSA licenced race events count towards your 15 days.
My advice, enjoy a years marshalling, try some other circuits, get your signatures, and go for the GP in '06.

Al.

Mine arrived this morning, so all is good.

Are we having a ten-tenths marshals area on the campsite then or are we all doing our own thing?
