A Dutch newspaper(The AD,a sponsor af the Spyker team) reports that there are problems with the payment of the money that was agreed up on in the contract, Christijans sponsors so far have only payed 2 million dollars and not the agreed 10 million, they've given him an ultimatum to pay before the Nurburgring race.

Jeez, what is it with these teams? They take a driver who promises to pay a fortune, he doesn't, but he effectively gets half-a-dozen free drives as a result.

As long as they don't try to find someone from Barnsley with common sense, they'll be fine.
Does that sound insulting to you? |

I read somewhere, think it was "crashnet" but dont quote me on it, that Klien was in line for the seat, now that is a step i the right direction by Spyker if it is accurate.

So who wants to start the Verstappen/Montoya/Villeneuve/Hakkinen speculation then?

According to the Dutch GP commentator Olav Mol there are a lot of drivers in line for the seat(Klien, Karthikean,Verstappen and more) but none of those drivers wants to get in the current car and want to wait for the B-spec coming in Turkey, he says Markus Winkelhock will probably drive at the Nurburgring.

Get Gijs van Lennep out of retirement. He's still probably the quickest Dutchie.

Mansell never officially retired, you know!
What an opportunity the Spyker seat is! I am sure there is quite a line of folks who can't wait to hop in there and show what they can do...I am giving points to anyone who can keep it out of the tullies for more than 20 laps...or who can successfully get the car off-line quickly after the motor lets go. Five pages of thread discussing who might get to drive the F1 equivalent of "Christine" (sorry Stephen King) next. The only thing sadder than that is that I have nothing better to do than to comment on it. Note to self: Re-evaluate Life Goals... I heard that Nigel Stepney, bearing the technical specifications for a Canon A360 Photocopier, a Michael Schumacher Pez dispenser and a Ron-speak decoder ring is at this moment interviewing for a position with Spyker in an attempt to rocket the team up the grid. |
