Didn't he partner Webber at European in Formula 3000 in 2000? I seem to recall he scored zero points, Webber scored 25 including a race win...?

Is this a fact? Can we have a link? He is listed as a driver on the Minardi website, but no news of him joining. He's been a Minardi test driver before (in 2001). Nothing on f1-live either. Bored of looking.

Anyway: He was the German F3 champion in '99. His best result in F3000 was a 7th. In 2000 Webber scored 21 points. Albers none. Last edited by Adam43; 8 Dec 2002 at 10:23. |

I've also looked, and found nothing to confirm this. We do need a link before we can take this seriously.

it really sounds like a race seat, who would pay 5m for a test contracvt? you never know about jos, probably they´ll have 2 dutchs, but to me this sounds very unlikely...byebye jos...

it can be between wilson and bernoldi, the only question will be who brings more cash...
the abilities of them will be about the same, i´d rate wilson as a little more talented but bernoldi is more expirienced |

On 15/12/02 Minardi are going to run a Thunder event (a bit like the one at Donington). Soon Minardi will so more Thunder events than F1 races!
Albers and Yooung will drive the cars there. I'm not saying the other driver is Yooung, just ponting out that they are getting Albers in there quickly. He has driven the two seaters at a Thunder event before. He came second in the 2 seater "race" at Donington this year. |

According to the dutch version of f1racing.net, Albers claims he has not yet ended his contract with Mercedes. His manager (who is in England talking with Minardi) said: "We are close to a deal, but a contract has not been signed yet. We hope we can make a statement by monday or tuesday. Nevertheless, it's still possible Christian will drive in DTM for another year."

The logical thing to do would be to fill the first seat on merit (probably Verstappen or Wilson); At that point you know the minimal amount of money the second driver will have to bring, and you can let the candidates outbid each other ... If you start by giving the second seat to the first driver who brings 5 million, in the end you might be forced to give the first seat to a driver who brings a lot more money than your favourite candidates! |

Is Christijan the brother of Marcel Albers, who died at Thruxton ten years ago in a British F3 race ?

This wouldn't surprise me... Wasn't Albers in the running for the seats Mazzacane and Marques filled? I know he's been a test driver for Minardi too at one point, in 2001? Good luck to him.
