This figure is the only bench mark I have. She had loads of torque. We hope to test at Mallory on 7th of Feb. The only problem there is I leave for South Africa on Tuesday.
At the wheels? I thought that FF/Sports 2000 engines were about 180 bhp at the flywheel.

I was hoping to test a Caterham at Mallory on 7th but probably working now.

Certainly not, the FF2000/S2000 engine is almost stock '2.0 GT' pinto that would have 110bhp at the most in a road car. The only sophisticated bit is the dry sump.....

Apologies if my earlier reply was a bit abrupt, I’d just found out no trains running on the local line this morning! Grrr

The Pintos in FF2000 and S2000 are basically just blueprinted, with small carb mods and tubular exhaust, so 130bhp at the flywheel is a reasonable figure. (Having said that, Delta & Alan Morgan know a lot more about them than me...) Gp1 RS2000 spec gves a lot more power.

Just thought I,d let you all know that a box has been sourced. It now means that me getting papers for the T70 are on a much closer horizon now.

You did Andy, but having got so frustrated at over 3450 views and no offers other than would I swop it for a Ultima CanAm, I pulled the advert off.

Only reason I put it up for sale was to help fund the restoration of a Lola T70 Mk3B and get FIA papers for it. A long and costly process, but we are getting there, especially as a LG500 box has been found to replace the ZF that it came with when purchased.

From its messy delivery from Felixstowe docks, it has been completely dismantled, every original item being stripped, cleaned, checked, bagged and awaiting the slow reassembly process. Just doing a check on the NOS calipers and the cleaned and crack tested Lola spinners on the rear suspension.

Thanks Mike, I was offered a 2 litre Pinto out of a Sports 2000 a year or so ago, to go in my Escort (it has a 1600 8v Vauxhall lump at the moment!), and was told that it made 180. It was a good price and I wish I had bought it, but no spare cash at the time.

Either it didn't have that or it was none compliant, but results didn't suggest that the car it came out of was a rocket ship!

Would still like a decent Pinto one day.

Back in the day our original idea in Thindersports was to stick a pair of Webers on and look for c 180bhp in our Aquila, with intention of modifying more for year 2 and aiming for 200+. Didn't happen of course. Ran out of money.

But yes I always assumed it was about 130bhp for a "standard" one.

You'd have got better readings with the back wheels on the rollers I reckon

Motor Rebuild

Pulled the big 6 lump on the Healey for full rebuild. New billet crank, rods, pistons, and cam. Power and torque will be upgraded substancially. Dyno time and track days still need to be scheduled.
