Belly13 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Australian 6 Hour @ Sydney Motorsport Park

Is it true that the Australian 6 Hour at SMP in July has been canned?

Hope not Belly as it's on my list. There's nothing on the SMP Facebook page.

There was a release within the last few weeks mentioning the makeup of the races eligibility list, but nothing since.

From the time when the Production Car competitors rejected the 6 Hour as a round of their Championship it was doomed. They are running a 3 Hour race on the Saturday in their series and it was unlikely many if not any of them were going to back up for Sunday. The late inclusion of GT Championship cars in the eligibility list was also likely to draw approximately zero cars after they ran 2 1 Hour Championship races on Saturday.
What we were likely to be left with was a few competitors from the State Production car series who had the funds to run a 6 Hour race. When (not if) the 6 Hour is cancelled the weekends program is likely to be adjusted so that Sunday will consist of 1 GT race, the 3 Hour Production race,2 50 minute Radical races and sprints for F3,GT3 Challenge and Swifts with the other GT race on Saturday. This is abetter option than the 2010 8 Hour and the 2011 6 Hour both of which had grids barely making double figures.
The only way to make the 6 Hour viable in the future is to have the Production competitors agree to it as part of their Championship.

That's a shame. Still looks a good program though. Would love to see a NSW Production Car presence in the 3 hour AMC race, would really bolster the field. Throw in a couple of Swifts plus the regular AMC competitors and it makes for a healthy grid.
Love the 1 hour GT races and 50 minute radical mini enduros as well. I'll still be attending on that weekend for sure.

I'm sure it is gone as all mention of the 6 Hour has been removed from the Shannons Nationals web site.
