This is a real blow for Kimi - it'll be interesting to see how the team approach it now. Probably they will change the engine before qualifying and use a powered-up 2003-spec one, hoping they can come through from around row 7 with it.
It's becoming increasingly clear as to just how much of a mess Mercedes are in. They don't seem to be getting any better, and are starting to run out of excuses. It's very unfortuante that Kimi has suffered this problem - it would've been better for the championship if it was someone who appears to really have the pace to fight through the field. |

That's where i'm thinking hard... is Mclaren planning to change the engine again one more time today?? Because they replaced that engine in Friday, which means the engine isn't as "fresh". What they may benefit from is with tyres and fuel. However, bearing in mind that all the current cars qualified with the race in mind, and that current regulations made cars run with far smaller tank, the "strategy" Mclaren may use may not prove as dramatic as we can hope...and that Kimi has to work his way pass half the grid who probably had lighter cars..not an easy task.
It's a damage limitation run tomorrow for both Mclaren drivers i guess, just run..and hope to finish with some points. |

Apparently Kimi's engine suffered a misfire prior to the 2nd qualifier. Starting from the back makes me think they may possibly change the engine for the second time.
The McLaren mechanics are sure earning their money this year! Soon the wrenchmen will be overworked, stressed, and have lost focus (if they aren't already). |

Overworked? In past years they would use about 4 engines per car per weekend. I think they still have it easy. What do the mechanics do on Saturday nights now?

Exactly - it's much less tiring these days.
Ask anyone who was on the McLaren team on the Saturday night at the Portuguese Grand Prix 1995 whether they'd prefer that or what they have now! |
