The Sir Speedy Thexalot BA looked better than the AU, and either of them much better than the Texan Darrell Lea car

Barry Jones used to run a chocolate brown Darrell Lea Rx7 back in the Group C days that wasnt quite so... um... scary

Errr.. I would have thought the object of the exercise would be to get people to buy product, and generate a return for the investment...

I'm not sure thats correct. isnt the idea that TEXAS give the series a big slab of cash?

Texas will be off the idea that people will turn up, to do that they need people to talk about it

I have gotten with the spirit and rented an Altima in LA, but I have gone for the sporty coupe version ( no really it was $40 a day). I have a mustang for the day in Austin.

If the V8 supercars get 60,000 even over three days, that's not bad for a series that has little presence over here in the U.S... but I'm sure it'll grow with more Austin races.

Still can't understand the reasoning in running the short course over the long course. Might as well as gone to Laguna Seca for the US round instead.

Cheaper to telecast, less officials needed, brings the cars back in front of the fans more often.

Well the F1 cars did 1.35 there on the long circuit and the Supercars would do around 2.05 to 2.09 and they would only be 18 lap races compared to the 27 around the short circuit. That is an extra 9 times a race they will be seen.If there are 10 or 20 thousand people there will look better than that number spread around the long circuit.

While I agree I would have MUCH rather seen them at a 'traditional' course (something fast like Road America, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen), they wouldn't pay the hefty sanctioning fee.

Not sure if NASCAR would have let them run at Road Atl or the Glen.

That's the Aussie times.. which I know are important but it can't really be helped when you run a race in the states.. unless they ran at night, it was gonna be an early time for you guys.

On Speed here, we're supposed to get V8 Supercars live at 4pm Est May 19th which really isn't a good time either though lol.

No replay on Sunday afternoon either...

Great example of how these overseas races don't add any value to the Australian broadcast rights.
