Perhaps CAMS should think about awarding the ATCC to the TCR Champion as Supercars seem to have little interest in the title preferring "Supercars Champion".

The CAMS Gold Star is a great Australian Crown which may be awarded again in the near future if S5000 continues to grow.

That is awfully speculative considering both series at the moment are not much more than a well funded pet project. Hopefully at least next year we can see real teams and not just cameos.

Instead Supercars market their brand, award the “Supercars Championship trophy” with little to no attention paid to the awarding of any ATCC presentation, yet lean on ATCC stats for supposed heritage.

Supercars decided to do their own things their own way from 1997 with little regard for things beforehand. Surely Supercars as an organisation should be proud of its own achievements and the stars it has created itself? Why in 2019 are we not celebrating the 23rd Supercars Champion? (And the 23rd Supercars 1000 winners while we are at it?)
Why link yourselves to history the organisation obviously wasn’t interested in continuing and wanted to do their own way?
Because they are businesses who can leverage the history of the sport for their own gain and they aren't alone in this regard, as the quote says 'History is always written by the winner'

The AFL only started in 1990, but all the stats that are used go back to the beginning of the VFL competition.

Stats for Indycar also include stats from the ChampCar era.

There are probably many more examples

Most Supercars will do is maybe do a shout out by the commentators, possibly show some archived footage and do a bit of a write up on social media.
