So what does that say about Sirotkin. And as for RBR..... Has STR just dropped the one driver who did more to help Honda development in the race to be competitive next year.... It would be funny if the next two seasons see RBR replicate McLaren and Williams 'progress'.... |

Are they free to change the team name for 2019 without drama or do hoops to jump through remain for that?

Mark Hughes was very complimentary about Sirotkin lately. Of course we know now that Kubica got his seat because of a bag of Polish gold.

Unless the Racing Point name from this year counts as a proper name change and so to change it away from that would then need the others to agree? |

The team had to change name, because it was a new entry, the previous entry was not part of the sale. The name of the car had to remain, because the chassis is registered under that name with FIA. So the latter half of the season consisted of company - chassis. They are lodging a request to the FIA in December to enter under a new name in 2019. |

The chassis name was listed as Racing Point, with the company name Racing Point UK Limited. https://au.eurosport.com/formula-1/m...16/story.shtml As an aside Ferrari will now be entered as Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow and Haas becomes Rich Energy Haas F1. |

'Racing Point'. It's a name that sounds a bit anonymous to me, it reminds me of Midland that the team was called at one time it a name without vision.
I know that it is difficult to come up with a name nowadays that is different and conveys your message that has not got '.com' at the end of it. |

Finally they've decided on a name, although no surprise what they have chosen

Apparently, Racing Point is not the team's permanent new name and it will change again, before the start of next season.

* Force Stroll * Stroll in the Park * Happy Birthday Lance * Don't say I never bought you anything Racing Team * Silver Spoon Racing * Haas Sucks Racing Two serious comments... 1. It's going to be a long winter until the start of 2019 season as God knows what else we will talk about until then. 2. I actually am curious to see how Lance does in a better car. Richard |

Based on their current choice, here are some of my predictions.
- Moving Object - Overtaking Thing - Speed Wow - Go Winning I think you'll agree that all of them fill a person with the excitement and inspiration of grand prix racing. |

What about: "We're Team FastcarsthatarenotquiteasfastasotherfastcarsinF1butwehaveLancestroll" or "Team WTF" for short.

in addition to approval from the circus, will this name change also require the formation of a new holding company, a sale of assets, and/or another transfer of shares?
despite the legal shenanigans no doubt at play here, Racing Point, imo, was a terrible name so i am glad to see it go! |

From what I’ve read they don’t need approval of other teams nowadays. I also don’t think that they need the company name to match the racing entrant name.
Edit: I read it here https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14...y-be-temporary |
