FLORENT MOULIN should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hello

The SPA race was cancelled during Dijon meeting.

Ratel will organise a race at Le Castellet this fall with a minimum of 20 cars, I'll probably come with four cars.

Goodwood was fantastic...

Hello Florent

I received this email the other day . I hope you do well

"Dear Friends and Competitors,

Following our email dated 6th August, we are delighted to come back to you with a proposal to regroup all our competitors for a single event before the 2009 season.

Indeed, we have the opportunity to take part in the “Grand Prix Historique de Provence” (http://www.gpao.fr/gphpaccf.html) at the majestic Paul Ricard circuit (5.8km) in south of France on 1st and 2nd November 2008.

As previously mentioned, we count on you by bringing together a minimum of 20 cars. This last event of the season will be confirmed once we have received entry forms and payments for this minimum of 20 cars by Friday 13th September. This time, we would not want to disappoint anyone and we have to prove the potential of the Series to better promote the 2009 season.

Remember that:

1) A reduction of the entry fees will be applied, with fees depending on the class entered. 2000 € for GT1, 1500 € for GT2 and 900 € for GT3,

2) The duration of each race will be increased from 45 to 50 minutes, helping the two drivers’ pairing while avoiding refuelling,

3) We will focus on conviviality, with the organisation of a dinner on the Saturday, bringing all the competitors together,

4) A relaunch of the internet site, in line with the other SRO-run sites is now well under-development and should be live next week,

5) We can assist you with the organisation of the accommodation with rooms pre-booked at the HÔTEL DU CASTELLET (4 **** Luxury).

For your kind information, the first entry already confirmed is from Stephane Ratel who will race the Ferrari F40 LM if the entry of other high level GT1 cars or the Venturi is confirmed.

The entry form will be communicated next week together with the sporting and technical regulations.

In the meantime, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Best regards"

Looking forward to the phot's of this event

Hello ...

A quick update on the GT90s Revival series !

The Castellet race will be fantastic, they are already 17 cars enterred with 4 GT1s

I have enterred 2 Vipers, and will share the wheel of chassis "C23" with Marc Duez Period driver from the car at Le Mans 1999, he finished 2nd GTS and 12th OA.

This is the car I drove at Nurburgring race this year, pictures have been posted on this thread.

The other is chassis "C20" ex FIA GT 1999 Oreca factory car, will have the same livery. Would be fantastic to have 2 Oreca cars on the grid !

When I have more news I'll let you know...

Regards

Hmmm...so,17 cars are entered while the official release said: This last event of the season will be confirmed once we have received entry forms and payments for this minimum of 20 cars by Friday 13th September.

Hope they won't cancel it in the end...

Thank you, Florent!

Love those cars, I miss your V10 Vipers (Especially the ORECA one!), but I also have a sweet spot for the 911 GT2, with flames and all

Keep it up, mate!

The way the series was until now makes it hard to give a positive comment...

But 17 cars is still good, let's hope there will be a better calendar in '09

Non McLaren announced at the moment but 2 F40s GT1 are already confirmed and a 3rd should join.

I will have to drive very hard with Marc Duez the GT2 Viper ...

lol ... noise level is 121db !!!! I restored the car to '99 Le Mans specifications as it raced with number 52. No silencers at this time... happy days ...

Here is a video and report about Castellet race.

http://www.leblogauto.com/2008/11/gt-90-revival-par-sro-le-meilleur-d%e2%80%99entre-deux-mondes.html

It was good fun though we had a problem during last part of qualifiyng with the car I shared with Marc Duez and couldn't take the start of the two races.

However I shared the wheel from the second GTS-R I enterred ( chassis C20 - #2 on doors - 3 victories in 99' FIA-GT )

For info Marc Duez Qualified at only 5/10e sec from the 2007 spec. Maranello the old Viper ...

Marc is as nice as fast and we will probably participate in other events together, he loved to be reunited with his Viper... me too !

Best,

Florent

Sad to hear it's still not on the FIA GT race weekends. Would love to see the series back in the UK.

Agreed, it really should be a support class for all European FIA-GT weekends. Why cant it be like that? Surely there HAS to be space for that class, there isnt that much supportclasses during the FIA-GT weekends nowdays anyway when tehy split from WTCC. Isnt it mostly local series anyway?

I couldnt agree more, plus it would be a good look back on the past cars that used to run in the series, I think I lot of people would get some enjoyment from seeing those cars run again on the same weekend as the main circus. Probably for the European circuits only, the fly away rounds would be too expensive and wouldn't get many entries.

Must have been 2005 or 2006 now but I remember having a discussion with a friend about an upcoming trip to see FIA GT at Silverstone, and their response was "Oh, isn't that where they race McLaren F1s?". The 1990s were my school years and at some point or another nearly everyone had one of those old pencil cases shaped like an F1-GTR or 911-GT1.

Anyone in their twenties nowadays had their youth partly-shaped by such dream cars, and I'm sure would love to see them on the same bill as the modern cars and say "wow, I remember that, I used to love that car!" in the same way that many people here did when Group C supported at Le Mans last year.

...actually that brings an idea to my head... wonder if there is any space to fit them in at the Silverstone Classic...?
