Fair point Purple Mini and I think the vast majority of real enthusiasts will agree with you.

The Lydden meeting sounds like it will be a great local event aimed at the majority of racers, there looks to be a very sensible range of classes to guarantee close and exciting racing – that's what most people love about Mini racing, competitors as well as spectators.

There will be plenty of nationwide events to help celebrate the big 50, including, I'm sure, a ‘fastest Mini in the world’ race. This is where all the specials and hybrids can get their big race!

Fair play to Rob for putting the idea forward, someone who has been willing to actually do something rather than just talk about it.

I'll get off my soap box now

lets hope so, although the grape vine is suggesting a truely wallet busting price for hiring lydden next year is on the cards

Its rather sad they are increasing that amount, even though we now have a new tarmac paddock. Perhaps the facilities will inprove? The big problem that faces the promoters other circuits become better value. It will make it very difficult for any race promoters to balance the books in this ecnomical climate. Perhaps the directors will hear our views!!
I would think that there will be a special thread started to debate what happens next.

If the cost of hiring Lydden is going up and becomes on par with Brands, Snet, Silverstone, Coombe, etc. Circuits that have far better facilities, is it worth even considering Lydden as a venue.

Lydden eats tyres, so if you add the cost of a set of front tyres to the existing Lydden entry fee it works out more expensive that racing at these other circuits.

The two race series I am with have dropped Lydden due to lack of support becuase of it's location. Any large price increase will only make it viable for local racers and let's be fair, Lydden isn't quite the same as racing at some of the better and more interesting circuits track wise.

i quite agree, i like lydden but not at the same cost i can race at the bigger circuits, even if it had the best paddock and facilities in the world the circuits nature means it will always have to be a good bit cheaper than the more high profile circuits to draw in the drivers

What a cold, dull, boring, day at Brands today the bit I thought was funny was you had people there giving interested people free rides and lo and behold there is motor sport vision giving hot laps for £25 what a laugh

We had our tickets free as MSA licence holders but there was no one on the gates checking - I'm sure anyone could have walked in for free!

Gavin, how could you get bored? You must have missed me lapping in the mighty Megane getting my ARDS out of the way - I'm now fully qualified to come out with you lot next year...
