The covers have come of the new Mustang GT3 today and its a good looking car. The car will be run by Proton Competition (An interesting one)

and they're using the 5.4L "Coyote" engine, using that flat plane crank similar to the Corvette's 5.5L. This should be good...

Excellent thought! Although I doubt Ford would be turned away regardless. Now an interesting one for me would be what if Glick kept their hypercar program next year and wanted to run their gt3 car too? For some reason I'm thinking the rules would change in that case.

You don’t need a loophole when you have that car. If you don’t have a hyper car you just need an ace up your sleeve. Or cold hard marketing dollars.

If anything it’s Proton probably using Ford to try and guarantee a grid spot.

The connection is Multimatic, in addition to building the Mustang GT3, Multimatic produces the chassis of the Porsche 963.

They directly said you don't have to be in Hypercar to be in LMGT3 with the 2 class confirmation so not sure that's a loophole and more they know Ford and Proton will bring a prepared car, and money

I didn't realise it was a possibility they wouldn't. For sure as the piece explains it would make life trickier for them in a number of ways not to be there in Hypercar.

I think it looks amazing in the bare carbon fiber! I'm not fond of the imsa BMW livery but it's a nice looking car.

Well, remember that Alfa was to make an announcement after the classic Le Mans weekend, as to whether they would stay in Formula 1 or choose another sport. It is time for that decision to be known.

Alfa is part of Stellantis, parent company of Peugeot so I don't really believe in this. Graham said something about that manufacturer not being around as of today, so I don't believe in Hyundai or McLaren either.

I did hear rumours of Alfa a few months ago, but then aren't they getting involved with Haas in F1 now? Maybe its Honda entering WEC.

Yesn Bruno Firmin from ALpine has confirned this in an interview you can read on endurance-info:
"Le rythme s’est progressivement accéléré et le choix de la règlementation LMDh s’est imposé comme une évidence avec l’ambition d’Alpine de pénétrer le marché américain"


Meaning

If that were the case, then Porsche and Lamborghini (VAG) would not be in the same situation, as both will run LMDh in both series.
Peugeot hasn't sold cars in the US for quite some time, so they would be in the same situation as Alpine. Whereas Alfa has, through Stellantis, been in the US market with sufficient sales of product. This alone makes Alfa Romeo a perfect choice for entry into WEC/IMSA competition.
