Chucky should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Speed limit

Can someone explain to me why when a V8 comes into the pits, the driver always seems to be reminded to keep his foot on the brake?

I thought they had pit lane speed limiters to take care of that?

Do they creep over the speed regardless of the limiter?

The limiter helps but if the pit lane is downhill it can creep over the 40 limit so that's why the team keeps reminding the drivers. Thats my guess.

I would have thought that if the car is in gear, especially first, the limiter would pull it up.

Strange.

It has been proven a few times that the limiter is not always set right.

If a tyre wears, its circumference reduces as rubber by nature sticks to, or wears off on, the road surface.. the limiter is set to hit a certain RPM level, calculated by diff and gear ratios, which would be done on new tyres. This would mean a certain number of turns of the wheels should be allowed to occur.

If the circumference falls, arguably the distance travelled on the same number of RPM falls also, therefore the speed reduces.

Having said that, the incline of a pitlane, a nerf from the rear by another car, or a miscalculation of the engine speed, or the driver forgetting to select the button on the steering wheel,h can all cause the car to exceed the allowable speed.

foot on the brake refers to the driver keeping brake pressure when the car is up in the air, and the wheelguns are tyring to tighten the nuts. If no brakes applied, the wheels will just spin.

and limiter only works below 4000rpm, so it wont pull you up when engine is above that speed
