Scott, we are more than happy to act as chat forum host to help you develop the histories of these cars. However, in order to formalise this and make it to our mutual benefit, it would be a good idea to post this fact on your website and put a link in to us.

Alexis Chassis No.TR2
Trying to put together the full history of Alexis F2 Chassis No.TR2
Here at Ten Tenths Chassis History Archive is probably the correct location to include this information. This topic was started on TNF at http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?showtopic=150160 Many thanks to those who have contributed to this, esp. TNF’s Andyrp26. The vehicles time Line to date as known 1966 Originally built by the Alexis Factory as a Mk9 F3 car in 1966 1967 Appears the car was rebadged as a F2 in 1967, the new owners took it as a Mk10 Chassis Plate 1968,1969, TBC 1969/1970 - Purchased by Rob Turnbull Rob Turnbull – note the original roll bar & note from Andy below in 1974 section. On Alan Browns Old Racing Cars website there is a reference to a Mk 10 Alexis (TR3?) driven by Rob Turnbull with a FVA on 28 May 1973 at Bassingbourne http://www.oldracingcars.com/results...hp?RaceID=S73C (Likely to be the same car) 1973 Painted Orange #59 now with BDA and revised roll bar 1974 Sold by Rob to Andy Turnock The super good looking Andy Turnock from 1974 Note from Andy confirming correct chassis Rob is quite tall and the original roll bar was stupidly small. He had it replaced with the one still on the car, this was this feature that caught my eye in the first posting. Also the other truly unique feature of this chassis is the lower front wishbone which was meant to be antidive, not convinced on that one.” (refer to images above) http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/638/alexismk9.jpg/"] Actually 74, location correct. 1975- Andy sold the car to ???? in the Newcastle/ Middlesborough area the builder guy bought the car from Liverpool. 1975- 1995 TBC Raced in 1995 at Prescott U.K. by Jeremy Thurston http://www.resultsman.co.uk/LiveTiming/Eve...mp;CompID=25713 1998 Car sold to G Buckland of Battle in U.K. Listed as a Mk10 but with correct chassis plate at Coys auction - 1999 http://www.motorbase.com/auction/by-id/532948685/ 1999 Chris Alford of Buckland U.K. sells the car on behalf of Mr Buckland to Tony Archer and the car is exported to Australia. 2010 the car is sold by Tony to Neil McCrudden The Alexis as is today. Whilst emptying our filing cabinets I have just found a letter from a man called Roger Williams from Brill Buckinghamshire asking for info about the Francis / Moss Special that was built about 1953/4.
This letter was from March 1986, it was an enquiry to my late boss, Jack Moss, asking the whereabouts of the original radiator surround from the car or the alloy one that replaced it in the early 1950's presumably when Jack & Alex Francis built/ rebuilt it. Roger Williams had bought the remains of the car in 1969 from Jack whilst Four Ashes Garage were at Dorridge, where the Sytner Porsche garage is now. Any one know if the car car still exists, with or without said radiator surround. |

An Alexis Mk17 or Mk17A was raced in British Formula Atlantic by Steve Choularton in 1971 but according to Chris's research, only two or three were built.
In North America, I don't have note of a Mk17 but there were several unidentified Alexis chassis between 1969 and 1971 that might have been Mk17s but it's rather more likely that they were Formula Fords electing to run in FB: Chuck Billington, Tony Settember and Graham Pierce all on the west coast in 1969; and Brian Weightman in Ontario in 1971. What is the chassis number of your car? |

Chassis Plade Infos
Hello
Chassis Plade says : ALEXIS CARS LTD CHASSIS NO AT/F3 - MK 17/1 - JAN 70 In the middle section from the frame ( Cockpit section ) the frame was original red painted - later grey colour was painted over. Ken Crook runs a F3 MK17 in Brands Hatch - September 1969 But the Plade says Jan 70 ??? More than one MK17 build ?? But the Plade says MK17/1 ?? A few mistakes ??? regards Karl |

Both Ken Crook and Dick Barker appear from August 1969 onwards with cars that are called Mk17. They appear together, so there are at least two built in 1969. Given Alexis plating practice, which I've seen in Formula Fords, there's every chance that these two cars were Mk17/1 and Mk17/2 with 1969 build dates They then built a third car, Mk17/1 with a 1970 build date. Barker's 1969 car is used by Ken Sedgley early in 1970 Crook's 1969 car appears driven by Allan Taylor in 1970 This suggests that the new car (if there is one) for 1970 is the one driven by Ken Bailey early in the season. Since no more than two Alexis appear together in 1970 there's no absolute guarantee that a third car was built. Ken Sedgley's 1970 car was yellow, Ken Bailey's 1970 car was red and white That colour scheme might be a clue, given the plate you've got Hope this helps Chris Last edited by Chris Townsend; 29 Oct 2011 at 17:07. |

Alexis FB
Now i have found the remains from the car of Brian Weightman from Ontario/
Canada. He runs 1971 in Player’s Challenge Series for the Canadian Driving Championship for Formula B. A Canadian Motorsport Bulletin, from 1971 says abouthim : Brian Weightman runs an old updated F3 Alexis ! His chassis have the same front upper wishbones as the MK 17 FF - not the version from the FF´s - who have a " trailing arm " versionof the upper front wishbone. So - what type of F3 was Weightmans car ?? Any information are welcome !!! |

it's been a while since i posted on here but, i couldn't help but spot this thread on Alexis cars. my father, Ken, did start originally start racing in formula ford using a Russell Alexis and did move on to a MK17 formula 3 car in 1970, I have seen results from this year mentioning both Ken and Dick Barker so, these are two different cars.
Ken had a huge accident in this car at Oulton Park mid 1970 during private testing when a front upright failed at Island Bend. The car was badly damaged but rebuilt by Ken's mechanic. Ken never drove the car again and he did a deal with Alexis cars (via Alan Taylor?) and part exchanged the car against a brand new MK18 formula ford. Ken could never make this car work and soon after met up with Derek Lawrence and set up Team Titan using 2 MK6 titans. hope this info helps |

I am restoring an Alexis Mk17 F3 chassis AM83 which has never been fitted with seat belt mounting brackets. Can anyone tell me when seat belts became mandatory?

Alexis Mk 6
This is an Alexis Mark 6 that was entered in the Formula 3 support event to the 1966 French Grand Prix held at Reims, France July 3,1966. It was entered by Team Alexis for Allan Taylor; he failed to qualify. Ford engine. There were 57 F3 cars entered. All I remember was that as the F3 field crested the top the back straight and funneled down into the Thillois Hairpin cars were 3,4, and 5 wide and they scattered everywhere; I think only 26 cars took the green, but everyone was so evenly matched, made for close racing.

Roger asked me if I knew what the chassis number FEG1 stood for, it was easy, Furnace End Garage 1 as that was where the chassis/ car was constructed, its 1st outing may have been Prescott September 20th 1953, driven by Alex Francis, just found the program for that event before Christmas, incidentally signed by Stirling Moss & other top drivers there. A year later Alex in the 1st Alexis car, registered JUE 234 since its rebuild above, beat Masten Gregory in the latest Ferrari at Prescott, Gregory was heard to say, as he looked at the converted HRG 'Beaten by - A Hot Rod' Last edited by FastDB2s; 28 Dec 2020 at 22:49. |

Hi. Is this topic still live? I am in the process of purchasing one of the only three Alexis Mk12 produced (it might be the only survivor) and I want to get involved in the Alexis community. Kind regards. Alejo.
