Who cares if no drivers from the CAMS National Series are in the Sandown 500.

The real question is why are CAMS allowing the only two CAMS-sanctioned 'National Championship packages' to run race meetings on the very same day as eachother

The Sandown 500, a milestone race in its own right but even more significant as the key lead-up race to the Bathurst 1000, will now be run on the weekend of September 1-3 ,with the race taking place on Father's Day, instead of September 8-10 as originally scheduled.

No details of the arrangement for the switch have been given, but it has been speculated that IMG has received some kind of sweetheart deal or underwriting guarantee in the event of a shortfall in attendance.

September 3 is also the scheduled date for the Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek and even if this has no effect on the entry the promoters must be worried that a signifigant number of their crowd might be tempted to stay home and watch Sandown on TV.

What, you mean they are actually expecting to get enough people to count as "a crowd" at EC?????

Or is poor attendance @ EC specifically a V8SC phenomenon?

Muscle Car Masters had a pretty good crowd considering the torrential rain the track endured.

Rombles, dont believe everything that Avesco says about EC.

The quotes from The Artist Formerly Known As Avesco are more to do with the ARDC's unwillingness to pay the inflating sanctioning fees rather than the actual crowds at Eastern Creek.Last year for instance the Creek attendance was about only 2500 below that at Oran Park (figures supplied in declaration by Oran Park Motorsport to Sun Herald) which is held up as a successful event. The Artist realises that when Oran Park closes (in 2008?) he will have to go to Eastern Creek for a rock bottom price to have any presence in Australia's largest city. This partially explains his deluded fixation with a Homebush street race.Because Eastern Creek is so large with probably more than triple the spectator capacity of any other permanent track in Australia it never looks crowded.A more accurate way of judging the crowd is by comparing the number of cars in the car park with another circuit.

As a Qlder, I would have attended the NRC meeting at QR, now that I have an Offical's licence, I would almost certainly have attended as a volunteer official. But after what I heard about last year's Muscle Car Masters at EC, there is no way I'm going to miss this year's running.

3 concurrent meetings in the same state, that's madness!

Shouldn't this have come up at the CAMS Calendar meeting??????

The Winton event is run under AASA so CAMS wouldn't even think twice about allowing it.

What 6 Hour event is being run at Phillip Island? The only car 6 Hour Relays being run in Victoria are the August AROCA event and the November MSCA events - sure this isn't a bike meeting?

Any idea what car club - surely they are kidding as there are already TWO club six hours running at that time of year - or are CAMS trying to kill the MSCA event (as that will be the one worse affected).

I guess the dates are allup in the air anyway - even the CAMS web site calendar hasn't got the right date for the V8's yet!

Why has the Winton Festival moved from it's normal start of October spot?
Plus that Sept weekend at PI was to be the VSCRC round by the Mini Car Club but I had heard it was moved to the weekend before to avoid such a clash.

Going by a previous post that round of the VSCRC was literally swapped with the V8 round.

The Mini date - from the VSCRC site is:

5 21-2 October Phillip Island Race Circuit Victorian Mini Club Inc 5

Not sure which date is the typo though - the 21 or the 2.

The date is the 21st - 22nd of October there storyline, and the Mini Club will be having their little run as usual at the end of the race meeting which you can watch by pit-lane if your lucky enough.

*Ill find those pictures later.
