Not sure how 'official' that statement is though. Sounds like Le Mans 2016 is pretty much a given and, if the statement above is correct, let's hope for clues or announcements regarding TUSC and/or WEC as well! |

Good hopfully we can stop guessing and end this nonsense since last year when they were supposed to announce but never did.

Why was anyone expecting to see a 2016 spec GTE car race in 2015 in the first place? It made no sense beyond "give it to IMSA, they'll waiver anything"

Last year around this period was incredible on the rumours front. Have S365/E-I ever explained, clarified or even I guess apologized for saying there would be a Ferrari LMP1 announcement?
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/leman...t-for-le-mans/ I just remember feeling really deflated during Le Mans week given the hype of what was rumoured. I've started keeping track now to see what actually materializes long-term against what is being reported. |

I don't think they have, but isn't it kind of obvious the explanation would be "source had wrong information"... one has to wonder though what is the journalist's role then.

Just in case anyone still had the slightest doubt Ford is about to announce their programme at Le Mans. http://sportscar365.com/lemans/leman...-announcement/ |

Ah yes. More speculative journalism. It's 50/50. Can't be wrong...
Essentially we will see the car at Sebring and Daytona before heading off for the WEC. There is no way Ford will have a four car factory effort in two series, run by the same shop straight away. That's just asking for complete disaster. |

Ford Return to Le Mans?
I figure they'll do the same as Corvette-TUSC and Le Mans. I can't see Ford stretching to run another team in WEC in the cars first year. After that who knows? That seems more realistic IMHO.

This car could well scare the current GTE's. Far more advanced aero, the first with an up to date, direct injection turbo engine...

I agree, don't know from where did this WEC assumption even come from. Their main competition is in TUSC, Ganassi is American and Multimatic is Canadian.

It comes from promotional activities, activation money, and the market where they think having a program like this would be beneficial. Seeing as Ford wants to be a global car company, having a car that traverses the world instead of a regional club series makes sense.

But that's just an assumption.....Corvette get's enough activation on the global scale by doing Le Mans alone whilst spending the rest of their time fighting it out in that American regional club series....

Chevy doesn't care about being a global brand. They have other marques that fall under their umbrella. And, just because their activation works based upon LeMans only(entirely untrue, it's a small boost for a niche market and a single car, but not the sole method) in no way, shape, or form mean that's the same approach Ford will use. |

Is Vette even popular in Europe? Ford's euro market is big, but would a Ford GT(E) be better served running in the states or worldwide? In the states they have Nascar. Do they even need a GTE?
