Peregrine should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
New HRT VY

Just thought I would trawl the sea of knowledge here and see whether the statement from AA, regarding HRT being "allowed" to put the old 18 degree Chev in their new VY, was accurate ?

Lets wait till the car emerges before we worry about the engine that is fitted, quite frankly I doubt it would matter what they had in it at the moment,as luck has departed ,along with a few staff. That said an engine from Cambellfield would probally be a not so smart move

You can put a VX or VY engine in if you want to, the $64 question remains whether the car will pass scrutiny as a Supercar and attain a logbook for that series.

And certain cars cant run under certain licences except by force majeure....

It gets confusing and convoluted, as most grandfather clauses tend to be...

If the VY has competed with the new HMS engine it cannot, by the rules, go back to the 18 degree engine. A VX can go "back" to an 18 degree from the HMS engine but must stay there. But, if this link works, it's how you read it (i.e. like a lawyer).http://www.v8supercars.com.au/downlo...Update%203.pdf

C8.16 Engine Eligibility is where to find it.

It's not a bad document to get familiar with as there is still alot of things within the rules that haven't been addressed. And it's not just wording.

The way I read it is you build a new VY with either engine, regardless of what the car it replaced had.

8.16.2 allows you to go from Aurora to 18 degree once in a season.

Its a bloody joke in my view!

Kieron, I agree! Why would they include provision to change back to the 18° engine?
