I think Lamborghini had stated they aren't yet working on a GT2 project. Think they have a great base and wouldn't be surprised to see one but do they want to take customers from Super Trofeo? Although I'm guessing GT2 will have a few tracks some Ams really want.

According to John Dagys, McLaren may announce its GT2 car at the Blancpain GT Barcelona race.

This doesn't seem to be going well now, only 1 single car in GT2 at Barcelona? At least it looks like they will run him on track with the GT3s racing.
Guess the Porsches have their race "history" and can now be hermetically sealed away to rise in value at auction and be immobile art in some billionaires garage. |

I'd love to see them at the Porsche track days here at Road Atlanta but last week was mostly Cup and street cars. |

The event at Spa was just an exhibition...more cars have been ordered here in the US with another manufacturer being announced at Barcelona

Yeh I think it’s probably too early to start writing this class off, in all likelihood it’ll become mainstay for am drivers at some point in the future

It seems odd that only 1 of the Porsche’s would be run this weekend in GT2 as there is a few of them out there now. Sure some of them will no doubt be tucked away in the garage but it’s a surprise that only one person wants to race them at the Blancpain final for the year Nevertheless the future ain’t gloomy with more manufacturers poised to join. |

And I'm not wishing doom and gloom in any way, in fact if they can keep it cheaper than GT3 it's a winning idea. Now I do think it will hurt true AMs in GT3 a little, mostly those over their heads in the jump from GT4 (or others) to GT3 but that's probably not enough to truly kill GT3. However, I do think it's a great idea for adding to SRO America. I think they could actually get a few new entries, it may cost them a couple GT3s but I think overall it would be a plus.
Now to just get a few to Road Atlanta, maybe HSR will find a class for them for The Mitty. |

Today Sofronas was 14th out of 28 in the Bronze test at Blancpain Barcelona. Seems the R8 GT2 is pretty much GT3 pace.

That was roughly what they were aiming for when in Am hands It’s essentially a little quicker on the straights, but slower in Cornering. All set up to be easier to drive for the Am |

So GT2’s are now going to run a stand-alone championship in Europe instead of share the track with the sports club GT3 cars.
Think this is down to pace concerns, but I wonder how big a grid two different championships vying for the same customer will do. Also, no word of that 3rd manufacturer that was due to launch this weekend |

According to S365 the to be announced programme this weekend was indeed McLaren, but it has been postponed.
Whether that means just the announcement has been postponed or the whole programme isn’t clear. Apparently it’s down to reorganisation in their internal GT2 programme Also S365 says there is another 2 manufacturers working on a programme potentially for 2020. |

I hope GT2 is faster, it's title makes it seem like it should be, even though they don't want it to. They'll probably just have amateur/gentleman drivers so it won't go faster but it seems likely without slowing them. I wonder who else would join the class? Maybe Mercedes' new AMG GT Black series that's testing at the 'Ring. I think if Mac isn't one of the other 2 rumored, it's Mercedes and probably Lamborghini.

I'd prefer GT2 to be Pros. Low downforce cars that move around a lot with more power. Seems like it'd be amazing in the hands of a pro.
