Competed in the same race as.... Yes, a pro driver indeed! I love the Lister Tiger, one of my favourite ‘big bangers’....
BTW Gerard, I see that the 2 litre Cup now has 3 driver categories, Elite/Elite, GTL/Elite, and GTL/GTL. So the pro drivers don’t have a time penalty, just have a different category to amass points in.... We were curious, however, as to why a pro driver in one race wasn’t still a pro driver in another race. But we know the organisation moves in mysterious ways..... |

Thanks to you I had a look to Ultimatecarpage and read the involvement of Carrol Shelby in the Tiger's development. As we say here "je vais me coucher moins bête ce soir" meaning I learned something and will go to bed a little bit less stupid… if possible!
The Lister version of the Tiger was literally a different car and from GW videos I imagine details like peg drive wheels. In 2015 7734 KV was estimated by Bonhams at 300/400k£. Some cars having no cavallino on the bonnet, like this Lister and Cobra Daytonas for example, seem underestimated I find. Certainly another debate! Hope "our" Michael Bell will confirm Nigel Greensall is a gentleman at wheel! |

Ha bien sûr avoir une vraie culture et écrire dans sa langue maternelle permet de battre les copains sur le fil… You've been too fast for me, again!
I saw the three different classifications corresponding to the association of drivers, Elite or Gentleman, if I can say so. I would say a toe in the water but a good move. We started with an example we know in this Cup and I wondered why Marc is considered as an Elite driver. Skilled and fast no doubt but may be less experienced than guys like Stretton/ O'Connell/Watson/Bryant for instance. No penalty in time is a must, trying to match a pro is a thrilling challenge for any amateur. |

The Harrington is good looking too. Less wild and probably under powered but elegant. Did you see my favorite TVR at GW, the light blue one? It looks standard and goes like a rocket. I bet it retains the carpet and radio grill in the center console!

Apart from the ‘Elite’ drivers in the 2L Cup, on a quick scan there’s only 4 drivers in other races that I can see deemed professionals. (They have an asterisk after their name.) There are several other drivers that are capable of matching them, but who don’t drive for a living! They may be a preparer or owner with many cars, but that doesn’t (understandably) classify them as a pro driver......

Will glad for you and team. Is it the roof of your car being that high on the pic? Did you think about removing the suit cases and the canary cage?

For this meeting, as we were one crew member short, we had a new ‘extra pair of hands’. A friend of co-driver Bill, a young man who took to Quad driving and pit-wall duty like a duck to water. Great company as well, and a real team player, so it was devastating to learn this morning that he died as a result of injuries incurred in a par-ascending accident on the weekend.
My condolences to his family and many friends. RIP Haz, Barcelona will hold different memories now. |
