Cheers Muzza! Thanks for the great rundown on the name!
Its funny how commentators can get it wrong and then everyone else gets it wrong for the rest of their lives, lucky "Jack Vill-nev" didn't stick, eh? (But for all I know that could be the correct ways!) |

I consulted with my half-Italian fiancee, who suggested it would be Pan-TAH-no.

I hate that - Jim Rosental's the worst for it.
Silverstun, Bridgestun. I wonder if he has stuns on his driveway at home. |

Before you ask I explain...
-It's not Alooonzou, it's Alon-so, sounding s and a short o. -It's not Gen-aay, it's Gené. The first e is very neutral, like that "ae" sound, and the second is accented, therefore the one that sounds more. It sounds more like a Australian e. -not de la Rouuusa, either. The o and the s are the same as in Alonso. Now I ask: How is Rubens Barrichello pronounced? is the ch k or tsch? |

By the way, the double consonant (ll) in his name forces a little pause before it, what makes the name more "singing". Italians do this without even realizing it. This is, for example, why the first and the second "ni" in a name like Pannini sound distinct from each other. I guess my name is a sort of Italian phonetic paradigm, with one ch and two cases of double consonants in a single word! |

My favourite racing driver name is Javier Morcillo. Hes now a team manager in Spain but no one who speaks English can pronounce his name even when I tell them it.
Its pronounced Habee-ay Morthee-yo but the th is very short |
