Apart from the Colin Davids-run Istel cars were there any other Rovers in Prodsaloons in 86? Dave Pinkney had one, but I can't remember whether this was 86 or 87- if the latter, then maybe an ex-Istel car?. The other name that rings a very vague bell is Norris Miles or something like that- possibly a New Zealander, ran a black Alfa GTV6 in Uniroyal around 1984/5- I've got a very vague feeling that he may have had, or at least occasionally drove, a Rover after that? |

I don't remember the Volvo in the white livery in the photo Colin posted- was it a different colour (red?) in 1985? |

Norris Miles definitely had an outing or two in the 1986 Production Saloons, can't remember if he's in the official footage on Vintage G&T or if he is just in the extra footage I have; will chek when I get back from Silverstone tonight, where incidentally in the Gp1 race yesterday there were ten Capris and only one Rover.

Reckon Norris pedalled Pinckney's old car if anything, may even have been as late as 1987? From memory was red or pink and white C&D Warranties livery, Pinkney's long time colours.
Norris was bloody good driver, shame we didn't get to see him get as far as Grp A imo... |

Here it is Chunt. A brilliant piece of footage... you'll love it.
Funny how dad had the 2.8i while the kid had the 3.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laiO35dKxAw |

I've just scanned a load in but most of them have photgrapher's names on the back; am I still okay to post them? Dad did buy the photo in the first place.

Unless the photographer transferred copyright to Gerry, you would really need their permission to post them. Its likely your dad bought prints of the pictures only which is not the same thing. Its worth chasing them down, I'm sure very few snappers would object to be honest and everyone would love to see them. Maybe worth putting a gallery of some sort together.

Just make sure you credit the photographer as the copyright owner when you post them.

You still need permission really Peter. I work in commercial photography, so I know from very painful experience. Better to be on the safe side.

We'll I'll post them and if they get removed you know why and if I get sued I'll ask you all to clun together!! For all I know these guys could have passed on now, it was 25 years ago, which incidentally I thought was the copyright of a picture.
This is the car from Brands, which became Eric Cook's race car and is what I think Skid's Autoplan Capri now is, as it isn't the original Autoplan Capri. Norris Miles in the Alfa?? Mallory with Skid Willhire '82 Dad!! Dad and Tony L...who won.... |

The Capri was probably the best racing saloon car ever - from success, good looks and excitement [courtesy of Gerry ] - its hard to better. Fantastic pictures Gregor... we'll help you out with the lawsuits if they come, don't worry

Good one. That's right, Hugh drove Capris in mid 80's didn't he? So he drove your dad's old one then?
I often wondered if the blue roof car was originally Gerry's Triplex Grp 1 shell as the livery was basically the same? |
