I was thinking the same thing (well, apart from the chocolate coin bit). He would be a good back up initially for Matt, then if he develops properly, should be able to lead the family team when Matt finally retires.

Gutted to lose Shedden, he's a class act. I'm sure he'll be back someday though. Taking the positives from this news though, at least the series has the strength in depth to recover from losing one of its star turns. Imagine if this happened 4 or 5 years ago, the series is light years away from those dark days.

I don't think Plato and Neal have the same Vitriolic relationship as 10 years ago. It could happen I think.

I think Team Dynamics would be better off with a solution for the longer term

I'd like to see (gasp!) a foreign driver be given the chance.
Really there is no reason why any of the works berths couldn't be given to overseas drivers. |

What does JP offer TD, that they don't already have? The most likely option is for them to put something in place now that is designed to bring titles in '19, '20 and beyond. That would mean a driver to be developed alongside the car, and MN will lead development of both. |

Fair enough, but it is the British Touring Car Championship, there doesn't appear to be enough interest from the teams in racing outside of the UK on cost grounds.

Most of the other drivers I'd have in the frame (given that they want a drop in replacement) have already announced/committed to teams - ok, these things can change, but Sam looks like a good option to me. Race winner, championship runner up, reasonably experienced. He'd need to readjust to FWD but that's the only issue I can see, and some testing time in Spain should help speed that process up. |

Wikipedia is now saying Alesi, that would be cosmic! A change from yesterday when it had a TBA with a Canadian Flag and two empty seats at BMR said ‘another driver with money’ Where do they come up with things like this...

When I looked, Gordon had left to set up a corner shop in Cambodia, Rob Austin's Alfa was going to be powered by 5 hamsters in a wheel, most of the grid were foreign and included Max 'the talent' Chilton and Esteban 'the talent talent talent' Guerrieri. |
