dazbaz_99 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Silverstone Classic Event 30-31 July 2005

I know that this event is quite a long way away still but does any one know what races are held when? I know from last year that there were races on both the Saturday & Sunday. Any information would be a real help! I want to book my ticket in advance and would like to go on the day the Grand Prix Masters and Group C Races take place.

You might want to contact James Beckett at the BRDC. Or you can pm him from here, he posts as JEB.

Is this meeting only 2 days now - I've got it down as it starting on the Friday?

I have it as a 3 day on my sheet...i think the friday is testing and that...although i could be wrong...asking James would be the best thing to do.

Silverstone Circuits seem to be promoting it as a two-day event on the 30th and 31st July. It isn't a BRDC event, by the way, and outside of JEB's remit. The race organisers are HSCC.

Sorry Ian...contact the HSCC and not James...although he still might have some idea! The circuit does seem to have it as a 2 dayer...but i volunteered to marshal for 3 days that weekend so...!

Strange, I've got it down as the "BRDC International Historic Festival"....
Meanwhile, the HSCC has it down as a full three day meeting! I'll go with a three day meeting in the meantime - I think chezza's got it right with Friday as a testing day though

Apart from the Silverstone Circuit website, is there any more decent info about the event available anywhere on the internet?

Thats where I have found most, if not all my information regarding this event. You could try the individual championships websites for some further background info. It certainly does look like being an awesome weekend, I hope it somewhat makes up for missing the GP there this year!

The weekend should be excellant - I am racing in the Denny Hulme Trophy but looking at the other cars in my and other races is like a all time wish list! I will be spending the weekend mostly in the paddock creating my fantasy car collection!

The dedicated Silverstone Classic website`s entry lists are now a little out of date I think. They came online about a month ago....

A detailed timetable (including the Friday) is on the TGP site........ (they also have a tgp up-to-date entrylist).....

http://www.tgpf1.com/silverstone05_ptt.doc

After checking with Silverstone I`ve found the Friday will be free of charge to spectators.

Alan and I will obviously be there. At the last count it was 500 cars with 600 drivers. (Some drivers are sharing cars.)

I think even the Friday with just practice and qualifying should be good with very large grids.

Looking forward to it a lot! We'll be there (old man and I) co-driving in a Ford 100E with yellow wheels in the HRSR race - come and say hello!

Assistance with push starts may well be needed

dusaster for me - after 2 laps of warming up (car and me!) of qualifying I had a small engine fire which has put me out for the weekend -
Its a very busy weekend and the paddock is stuffed full of motorhomes (despite requests by Silverstone to use the BRDC Farm motorhome carpark) resulting in it being virtually impossible to move racing cars or indeed setup unless you arrived Friday - well done all of you lot a definate case of "I'm alright Jack"
Having got the rant out of the way I hope everyone else has a great weekend
