The race has been delayed and the field will do a couple of laps behind the SC and then there will be a grid start.
Edit: all drivers have to start on wet tyres. |

The rain is heavier, so there may be a further delay.

Not sure why. Freitas delayed it because he saw this massive weather cell coming, and sure enough, it was enough that'd it'd have been red flagged. If he hadn't delayed it then this would've hit during the opening laps.
Seems like a good call by the end of it tbh. |

I guess we're just gonna sit around and wait for it to stop drizzling and start pouring again?

As with most other adverse weather conditions recently, for all the running F1 does it might as well drop the wet weather tyres and just wait for dry conditions. Would save the teams a bit of money and avoid the farce of half the race being run behind safety cars.

I see Ferrari have appealed about both Red Bulls crossing the line on pit exit. The TV commentators made a big thing about it at the time, but the onboard replays were not very clear and no external footage was shown - so I have no idea whether there is anything to this or not. Usually such a thing is very straighforward to determine.
I only saw the channel 4 footage - did the full race coverage show this from an external angle? Anyway, I am pleased that Perez got the win. Poor LeClerc must be annoyed, but Sainz was vocal with the team that going straight from Wets to slicks was the right option, and there was nothing stopiing LeClerc asking for the same. Seeing another Haas in two pieces was quite chilling, until they played the "I'm OK" radio message. |

the SKY team also tried to make out what happened based on a couple of short replays but were equally unable to make out enough.
actually thought there were a few incidents where the replays were from poor vantage points. maybe the TV director made some bad choices or maybe they need to rethink their camera positions around this track? if they come back that is. the need to adhere to a strict safety protocol (delay for rain and rolling restart) highlights the fact that these cars have outgrown the venue. while i might not be a huge fan of the racing here, would be a shame to see it go. unbelievably well attended event! maybe the most packed i have ever see the place. and yeah, very happy to see shummy walk away! |

Stewarts have agreed that part of the Red Bull tyres were over the edge of the pit exit line and this is not a penalty. They said most of the wheel was on the line and not over and that's fine.
This contradicts my understanding of how that rule works, but whatever. |
