While it may seem off the pace, the FK8 (between Shedden, Rowbottom, Cook and Plato) managed to see the podium at 8 of the 10 rounds. 6 wins out of 30 rounds, same goes for fastest laps

BTC posted a brief video of the striped Civics being worked on for 2023. That should put to rest any suggests they were changing cars.

To be fair it shows the Civics being stripped. The video of them being rebuilt will prove they're not changing cars.

Unless the running gear - including Msport engine is being built into new shells.

Or maybe they are ready to sell to someone else? But I would be surprised. I expect them to keep the Civics.

Perhaps a new engine is more likely?

But Speedworks seemed to get some pace out of the M-Sport unit didn’t they? So reworked engine installation and cooling package?

How about using B-SUVs like the Ford Puma, Hyundai Kona, Toyota Yaris Cross and Honda HR-V?
In terms of UK relevance to the showroom, a compact-SUV series would make absolute sense.
With the sales results for 2022 now out, in the UK the top ten were:

10. Ford Fiesta
9. Ford Kuga
8. Volkswagen Golf
7. Hyundai Tucson
6. Kia Sportage
5. Mini Hatch
4. Ford Puma
3. Tesla Model Y
2. Vauxhall Corsa
1. Nissan Qashqai

I'm guessing you are referring to the Fiesta?

The Kuga and Puma both sold more in the UK.

They can't get rid of the Fiesta, what would they replace it with?

They already have decided to get rid of it. And the replacement is (in the main) the Puma.

Serves me right for not looking at the numbers and just going by the location on the list before responding.

Doh !

That list does only tell half the story though.

https://www.gov.uk/government/statis...september-2022

Whilst the Ford Fiesta is no longer the most popular selling car in the UK, it is, by quite some margin, the most common car seen on the roads.

The third generation Nissan Quashqai only became widely available in the UK at the start of 2022, in comparison to the seventh generation Fiesta which has been around since 2016, so it's not overly surprising that it sold more new examples last year than the Fiesta.

It will all change again, when governments realise the push to SUVs has been contributing to climate change. Bigger car, more weight... more weight.... more energy needed to move them.

Manufacturers love selling them, as they cost more and have a bigger margin.

Before 2020, Ford were selling 100k+ Fiestas every year in the UK - way more than any other car on the road. Ford have shifted resources to focus production on more profitable models like the Puma and Kuga.

Saw Jade Edwards was doing something media-wise for the BTCC then which probably points towards her having a seat somewhere.
