New French talent?

According to www.worldrallynews.com the French FFSA will back 5 new talented drivers under the Equipe de France banner.
Three of the five drivers are:
- Stephane Sarrazin (former single seater and sportscar driver)
- Guerlain Chicherit (former world champion free style skying)
- Nicolas Vouilloz (former world champion mountain biking)

I get the impression that the FFSA went for the famous people (who attract publicity) instead of talent. Or am I wrong? I agree Sarrazin is a good driver who did already some rally's, so his choice I can understand.

For the full article.

Stevie A should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Don't be too cynical yet, this has happened in the past. In 1995, Swedish olympic freestyle skiing champ Gunde Svan got a drive for Team Toyota Sweden in the European Rallycross Championships.

Everybody was thinking the same as you are about these French guys.........but he was excellent and went on to finish 2nd in the championship in his first season.

And then disappeared from the sport as did his team who were found to be cheating if I remember rightly. Was only in Group N aswell.
Main thing about this Sarrazin thing is he was up against Brice Tirrabissi who most surely be the most obvious candidate after his stunning year in the Clio last year.
And also Olivier Jacque of MotoGP fame.
Also a little surprised that a younger driver didn't win the prize.
Whatever happened to Fabrice Morel who questionably drove better than Loeb did in those 1999 drives in San Remo and Corsica

Tirrabissi said no to a season in the Renault JWRC because he thought he would win that season in the Subaru....
