What lens?
I've bought the Nikon D100, it came with a 28-200 lens, which is good, but I'd like something a bit bigger.
I'm used to my Fuji S5000 with it's 10x optical zoom, and I'd like to be able zoom a fair bit more, so what lens would you reccomend? I've seen a decent 300mm one for a good price, but is that enough? Could get a 170-500 but it's quite a lot more. Budget is up to or just over 600 pounds. |

Seeing as you have a 70-200, why not get a 400mm telephoto. If you went second hand you may be able to pick one up with a fairly wide aperture.

I don't think you're going to get anything with motors to focus the lens for that sort of budget so you'll have to work around that (although this may not be so much of an issue with a D100 on single shot mode set to release only on focus lock).. Consider buying second hand from ebay.. You may be best advised to look at the Nikkor 300mm AF-S f4 as a start.. Yoiu'll need to find a little more cash as they're about £870 new.. But you'll get motors to focus quickly and a better quality optic.. David |
