Falcon racing in UK

Anyone seen the EL Falcon in Autosport's national reports racing in the Ford saloons race at Oulton Park?

It was driven by a guy named Mike Newton, who I belived raced a Vectra at bathurst when it ran for Super Tourers.

Does anyon have any idea whose car it was?

Interested to know.

Yeah, he is the bloke who had a gazillion Vectras and Cavaliers and asorted things... didn't he once blow an engine at Bathurst, and bought a complete race car to get the bits?

Did the car look like a fully blown Supercar?

Thats right this guy bought John Henderson's `94 spec Opel Vectra when he blew a motor at bathurst in `98.

Yes it was a full blown aussie V8 touring car (V8 Supercars is a stupid name, so I won't use it) it also stated in the report that it was an ex ATCC car, but did not say whose it was.

Good, glad someone agrees - V8 Supercars is rubbish name - why does everything use 'super?' Supercars, Super Tourers, Super Trucks, Super this, super that. What next? V8 megacars? V8 ultracars?

I'm another one who doesn't like the name, maybe we should start a new thread and everyone put their names on it who don't like it and send it to Tony C.

There's also a Holden VS over there as well.

Mike Newton, not only does he own the Red and Yellow Cavalier/Vectra he used in Bathurst 98 & 99 and Hendo's 98 Cavalier/Vectra, he also owns the two Cavaliers raced by John Cleland and James Thompson in the 1995 BTCC, which were then raced in the 1996 ASTC by Jim Richards and Brooke Tatnell/Russell Ingall and were then bought by Bob Tweedie, who only ever used one and at one time Bob Morris was rumoured to drive the other in 1997.

So he owns 4, where the hell are they.

There are a couple of them sitting at Rod Jones workshop in Bathurst, along with one of Neil Schembris old EL V8 touring cars

As far as V8 Supercars are concerned, we are about 5 years too late with our protests...

Then again, to get state level motorsport going again, we might as well try and put the 'super' tag on everything....Super Geminis, Super HQs, Super Formula Ford, Super Sports Sedans, opps!...
