The notifications from them during this process were first class - I received an email from them at 12-49 am on Wednesday to say the application had been approved and the passport had been sent for printing. I really can not fault a time lapse of under 3 days from a visit to Tesco for a photo to receipt of passport.
If only DVLA were as efficient.
Just had some dealing with the DVLA
A week or so ago had a driving licence renewal form come by post .
Went online to do it , page after page of details , takes some time to complete . Then at the end it says , " Now all you have to do is to post off the completed form " .
All seemed such a load of civil servant waste of time .
But surprise , today a new licence came through by post . So perhaps it does work sometimes .

I read on social media that Autosport magazine is making mass redundancies with more to come. I hope that Kevin Turner remains safe in his position.

Came back to watching the coverage today having paused it - great stuff until the coverage stopped (on my machine) with about 5 minutes of the 12 hours remaining! And I'd been so disciplined about not checking the result so I could watch it "live"

morninggents should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There was a 'part 2' on YouTube. I thought the same about going to only a few minutes for the finish but then searched YouTube for the ending.
I thought the racing was very good and very competitive throughout with 3 cars on the lead lap after 12 hours.
Why do they have minimum pitstop times? It spoiled the last few minutes as the Ferrari and one of the Mercs could have stopped for a brief top up and made the race even more exciting.
Good to see Valentina Rossi in the second place BMW. I thought he drove very well. I wonder if he found himself leaning in to the corners when he was driving.

There is an extended highlights package of just over 45 minutes which is quite good viewing. Especially the "Pass on the Grass" at 45 mins in where the #46 BMW passed a Merc around the outside of the entry to the Chase at 280kph followed by a last of the late brakers move.

As I mentioned elsewhere it was to me the winner of the "Large Gentlemens Vegetables" award. 45 mins in.

Im a hater of the minimum pit stop time rule (80secs) as it not only. takes away the option of a late splash 'n' dash but also turns a huge chunk of the race into a fuel saving economy drive. Its a 12 hr race, let them race. It shouldn't be an economy drive until the final hour, and then praying for a safety car to help the fuel economy.

Anyway, despite its shortcomings, the link to some fine highlights.

Edit: Here is that large gentlemans vegetables pass I mentioned, on a twitter link:

Thank you both for the great vids! Wonderful. Having done Les 6 heures de Dakar well before the permanent track, I thought nothing could be crazier. Bathurst takes the Mickey as Yvan Muller told me, keeping a warm souvenir of a race partly without windshield…

Agree that the 80sec pit stop rule is a bit of a drag EB but I think doing away with it would see a lot of entrants see the extra pit crew costs a big discouragement towards coming to Bathurst.
Perhaps the allowance of a Splash n dash in the last hour may improve the event without the problem of hiring a professional pit crew for the event.
Great race and Mt Panorama must be the most Telegenic circuit in the World

Fair comments re the costs of pro crew OT.... the provision for last hour splash n dash stops would certainly add a bit of drama to the final run to the flag, and hopefully is part of future regs. . Agree re. the race and track.

Hope life on the Gold Coast treats you well. (I see your name here from time to time and I recall we had many enjoyable discussions, particularly regarding earlier eras of racing, IIRC in a previous life on an Aussie Forum)

Cheers
Chris

The HSCC appears to have subsumed the HRSR Champonship but the website is now being maintained by the founding members who are keeping it going in memory of the late Glen and Christina Maskell. The roll of honour HERE includes some interesting names......

Talking about interesting names , this site has some amazing information. https://www.racingyears.com/results/...sh_Touring_Car
If you go to drivers by country , you get a listing of hundreds / thousands of names , and can find all sorts of info like , where / when they raced , results , type of car etc .
You could spend a lot of time here looking up everybody you ever knew .
