MichaelC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who will be driving in the BTCC next season?

As we've only one race to go, I was just wondering about next season, and who we'll be able to see at the races.

Some points of interest for me include:

Will Phil Bennett be staying, or has his outing in the GT cars showed him that sportscar racing is the way to go?

Plato says he wants to do Nascar. Does 2002 hold a Winston Cup campaign for him, or will he be staying with Vauxhall for another season's panel bashing?

Did Andy Prilaux impress any teams enough to sign him up?

Has Warren Hughes done enough to secure the second MG seat?

Will John bring Team B&Q to the Touring category? He has mentioned that they might do...?

Will Ten-Tenths enter Craig Antill in a privateer Pug 306 for BTC-P?

Craig Antill is pursuing other racing interests, namely the brand new series - Formula Diesel..

He'll be up against the might of Bella's Caravelle, and a brighty coloured Maestro van..

Hmmm, sounds very intersting. You sure they'd be on a level playing field though?...

Having been in a car with Mr Antill, I think his talent may lay in rallycross!

I don't think that Plato would get a Winston cup drive, they are notoriously hard to get. Especially for non Americans.

He may get into the lower Busch league though.

I suspect that Bennett may be only driver that Vauxhall could keep for next year, I predict that Thompson will go to the ETCC with Honda, and that Muller will move on, possibly to the DTM?

I reckon that both Peugeot and MG's line up will remain the same. as fort he rest? who knows?

What about Lexus, they should be back with at least 2 cars for Vincent Radermecker and Tommy Erdos I hope.
Plato will be the only Vauxhall driver staying in the team for next year.
2*Team B&Q cars in the Touring class using either Vauxhalls or Lexus?
3*Peugeots with Slight, Soper and Eaves, maybe Alan Morisson will return?
Barwell were thinking up moving in to the Touring class.

Who knows who we may see next year.

I agree, as being an American I cannot see Plato being in NASCAR. As much as it would suit him, it wouldnt work, especially since he's british. A lot of the NASCAR team managers seem to think that anyone that does not live in the United States can't drive...

Vauxhall; EITHER Plato or Muller and the Thommo

Pug; Soper, Dan Eaves, Slight

MG; Reid, Hughes, Plato or Muller?

Proton; Plato or Muller?

Barwell, TMSR/GA-J, JSM, HTML. Who knows?

Looking up 4 next year.

So you don't think that they'll be 4 Vauxhall cars next year? And do you seriously think B&Q will buy cars for the Touring Class? I hope so, and certainly the other top Production teams like HTML would be nice to see, running either 2001 or 2002 customer machines, especially the 2001 MGs, which should be a useful car by comparison to the more worn 2001 Vauxhalls. The idea of Jason racing in the Busch series (NASCAR's equivalent of Formula 3000) is interesting, but God knows what the Ynaks would make of him. Still, they'd gel as soon as they realise that he's even less competant than most of them!

I reckon two Vauxhall's next year, a maximum of three. No more, as it depends totally on outside funding.
