Still, perhaps I am underestimating the capabilities of VW Motorsport. If Solberg/PSRX are running the program though, perhaps they will insist on utilizing the same component suppliers that were employed for the Citroen. |

Haha
These "news" about RX2 are so completely unnecessary. Going to the Autosport Show and announcing an already announced schedule, with an already known car, with an already known tire supplier and supporter of WRX. I mean, what's the point? I can understand if they want to show the attenders of the show the car and the series. But it seems like this "announcement" was for the world to see. |

I don't like this series, I hate silhouette race cars as they have nothing in common with a normal car. I know SuperCars are something special too, but at least they still retain stuff from their original platform! The RX2 is just a full scale RC car with different bodies. And due to regulations such as weight it is probably the faster than a SuperCar if it had the same engine. |

I wonder though if it really would be faster than a Supercar if it had such an engine. The stronger engine would probably not make a good fit in it, the cars being built quite poorly. In 2014 during a race in RallyX, a driver almost got spun around at the start. The driver countered it though but the car tipped over and he rolled on the start straight ... |

It is nothing like a supercar in power is it? They have Zetec engines with about 300hp, that's half a WRX car, they are mid engine for some stupid reason meaning they handle very well but are really edgy which is nothing like a WRX car either.
They are simply a design idea that Eriksson ran with coz he had massive support from Ford at the time and was in both camps and saw the dollar signs of being able to sell in the US and Europe he has probably sold 30+ Lites cars as a result, good business for him. IMG are trying to have a one make support formula and someone to run a few teams so they can run a few guest drivers and the like in there. Instead of trying to come up with something more interesting or throwing their weight more behind S1600 or RWD. |

Wonder whether Tanner Foust will get any WorldRX outings in 2017. Would VW PSRX or Marklund run his car now?

Probably Solberg since his team is an official VW team and Foust is hired by VW. Marklund ran Foust's car in the past because they then had the support from VW. Now however they don't and could be considered a privateer team again. I don't think VW Sweden will sponsor them either.

It seems Jenson Button has been playing in the OMSE Civic, I expect it is a one off but it would be good to him in WRX

There was also a motorsport magazine claiming that Button would do GRC with OMSE some time ago. |

Isn't Honda and Subaru in GRC "just" a North American Honda and Subaru importers adventure? Otherwise we could have more manufactures in WRX...

Could be, that's why I hate such homologations and rules. Every hatchback commercially available should be eligible for Rallycross in my opinion...

Also kind of strange that the USA doesn't get at least 2 or 3 rounds of the WRX: Florida, West coast and East coast since it's bigger in size than Europe and now have a lot of drivers

They wont get rounds of WRX because of GRC hanging on for grim death.
Otherwise they would be there for sure. Probably doing Xgames or some nonsense like that |

GRC isn't part of X Games anymore. It will surprise many - inc. me - that it is now big enough not to need X Games plus too many logistical (stadium) and practical (non-Championship only at X Games) to make sense.
Despite my earlier cynicism GRC is pulling very good TV numbers in the US. It's audience is bigger than F1 and often matches IndyCar. Of course light years behind NASCAR. JB's rallycross plans have been in the works for over a year. He was looking at having his own team but not sure where that sits now. Honda is the obvious fit if he is on 'sabbatical' from F1. Also OMSE is very professional and I know Chunder is not a fan but Andreas has a vision and delivers upon it. IIRC Marcus and Jenson have crossed paths in the past as well. On the subject of Marcus there was recently a FB post with the hashtag #msport. I haven't spoken to him recently but has he moved on from OMSE to their arch enemy? |

Are you sure they weren't kicked out of X-games?
I never thought their TV number were that good. They will surely be getting manufactures too when the electric series gets underway. As for Grönholm, OMSE aren't doing WRX next year according to a rumor. Grönholm said in an article also that they were planning to race their own Fiesta, which they bought from OMSE a couple of years ago and competed with in 2015. He has started a company, GRX Management I think its called, in order to get funding for young, talented, Finnish drivers in rallying and rallycross. Niclas, Joni Wiman and another rally talent are part of it at the moment. |
